I never got to checkin. There was no office to checkin at even though email said it was at the top of the hill. I sent messages asking how to checkin and never got a response. I ended up having to find a room at another hotel. Signs that were posted pointing toward community center at the lodge said closed due to vandalism. 0/10 would not recommend this property to anyone.

The Gatlinburg View Lodge has converted to weekly rentals. It is no longer a hotel. Chris and Audi, the caretakers, were very helpful and accommodated us, but they had to scramble to find us a room. The prior manager neglected to remove the Lodge from Expedia.

I read the previous reviews with people having difficulties getting into their rooms because this place has no front desk. I prepared myself, made sure i found the message that had my door code and check-in instructions. We pulled in around 9PM to find a sketchy couple fighting in the parking lot as we were unpacking our luggage. (I understand the motel has no control over this and not their fauly in any way, just gives you an idea of what kind of place this is) Two police cars show up asking about a woman screaming for help. We get to our room, enter the door code and nothing. Check and try several times and nothing. Cell service is limited so we had trouble getting a hold of someone. Once we did, told the guy on the other end what was going on, our room number and the door code we were given. He wants our expedia confirmation number. I explain i dont have it and cant get it, im on the phone (barely) and not enough service to load web pages. Asks for it again as hes getting some attitude about it, then says he will call back and hangs up. We're standing outside on the walkway, in the dark and cold waiting for a phone call. Nothing happens. About 5 mins later a woman walks by (talking on a phone) and says "are you having trouble getting into your room"? Just try XXXX number. We did and the door opens. Weird we thought but then noticed the code was just our room number with a "0" added to it. I'm guessing all rooms have the same setup. Room was dirty, shower clogged

I will never recommend this place. My family and I were planning the stay there for 7 days. After the first night we called Expedia telling them everything that went wrong. Expedia then called the hotel and the lady said everything I said was false. The only person that helped us out was the maintenance man. Him and his wife were the nicest sweetest people. They helped us out with whatever we needed. If it wasn’t for them that place would go down hill. I’m so glad Expedia was able to find us a a new hotel.

Looks rough from outside, but clean and safe inside. Kitchen and common areas were messy and unkept, but our room was great. Clean, everything worked and looked good, no smell or anything weird. My gf and I were happy. Good access to trolly also!

This is a very basic no frills place to stay. The bed was comfortable and the sheets were soft. The hotel is noisy and one night I called the police on a loud fight outside. The text gave me check in directions for a late arrival and said if I needed anything to let them know. I let them know I’d like an additional blanket, soap bar, and towel and never heard anything. I called and text and heard nothing. Was nice to have refrigerator and microwave in the room. Shower was good (but not a lot of pressure) except very low and the mirror is also very low—i could only see up to my neck without ducking down. There is never anyone in property or a front desk that I could find. It was an odd experience but okay for a cheaper place to stay.

This was a contactless property. When we entered the room the bed was wet on the surface, there were no cups, 5 tissues. There was a coffee maker but no coffee or coffee supplies. We let them know via text per their instructions and asked for these supplies but there was no response or replacement. The electrical outlets on the lights above the bed would not keep the prongs secularly on place. The property was clean, the bed and pillows were quite comfortable. We will not sat here again nor refer to anyone based on the missing items and no replacement even though we asked.

Just what we needed
I booked this room without reading the reviews, but based on the 8.2 out of 10 rating. On our way down, I DID read the reviews and was worried about what I got us into. Our stay had ZERO issues. Contactless check in was great, given the fact that we arrived later than we expected. The room was clean and comfortable. We had plenty of HOT water. My kids enjoyed the bunkbeds. It wasn't anything fancy, we just needed somewhere to sleep, shower, and rest in between doing things during the day and the evening. It was perfect.

When I arrived and the hotel, I went looking for the front desk. All the signs on the way directed which direction things were except the front desk. I walked the entire hotel in the dark and rain. I went walking down the big hill we had to go up to the hotel and start walking up the road toward a house I thought might be the check in building. However, it was someone’s house. I started walking back to the hotel and saw a girl and boy walking a dog, so I stopped them and asked if they knew where the front desk was so I could get my room number and key. Turns out the girl was the manager of the hotel and lives there and she said there was no front desk, it was turned into a contactless hotel. Where the front desk was suppose to be was boarded up with a for rent sign that said long term rentals and weekly rentals available. I told her I had a booking and I needed to know my room number and get my keycard or key. She said I should have gotten an email from Expedia with the information on it. I told her I never received it and that I had already called the number listed on the welcome email I received after booking 4 times and got no answer. After giving her all my information she called her supervisor and was able to verify my identity so I could get my room number and key code. All of this in the middle of the street, in the dark and rain. After I got the information, I was told there was a bear living there that could open car doors and walk down the balcony.

On November 23, 2023, at 2 am, we checked into a hotel that we had booked through Expedia on November 14, without seeing it beforehand. The hotel sent an automated text with a digital check-in code. Despite no desk personnel being available, we used the provided digital check-in code to enter the room. To our dismay, the room was in an unsatisfactory condition—unclean, unmade bed, bugs, dirty carpets, wall damage, 2 twin beds pushed together with egg crate as a mattress and regular box springs, etc. Promptly, we left the premises and attempted to contact the hotel via the provided phone numbers, but our calls went unanswered. With no front desk personnel in sight, we decided to check into another hotel. DO NOT STAY HERE!

Poor really avoid - don't believe the + hype
I'll start by saying I don't know were folks who gave this place 3 or more stars ever stayed before. The unfortunate reality is the description and photos paint a bogus story of what this is. It's a 3rd rate elevated motel that makes Super 8 look like the Hilton. They should be tarred and feathered for charging more than $200 a night, as well as not providing refunds. The is no check-in desk/office or live person. It's all done through hotel.com app or texted. There is "No One" to physically talk to or see. You can send text messages or call the number provided and never get a response or call back. Community kitchen is not what you think....it's a small galley kitchen for communal cooking. Community Center is a room converted to be a business center, billiards room, place to play video games and go to the bathroom. Rooms are small, no coffee makers, small refrigerators and microwave. TV satellite service takes half a day to get to work. Wi-Fi service is intermittent and takes the system 10 minutes to either recognize the password or log you into it. It's true that there is no hot water. The bath tub had mold around it where it meets the tile. The rooms are dusty, with people's hair and just filthy out right. The beds are old college dorm beds. The springs make the classic loud sound everytime you get in, out or just move. There is real air flow so the room is stagnant. The toilet fills slowly and needs to be flushed twice. Not so hidden gem with freezing water
We really wanted to enjoy this property. We were surprised at how new the furnishings were. The bed was very clean. The sheets were very soft, you have a full size refrigerator, microwave, and a kitchen table with a Keurig. This hotel would be a gold mine if it had not been for the cold water. I really wanted to love this place, but unfortunately having to reach out to the owner and not getting a solution is the reasoning behind this review. We were told at 4pm to let the water run for 10 minutes and it would get hot. It did not. We left the hotel and picked up a few things in town. We come back that night to shower, and I couldn’t even stand the water temperature for 2 minutes. The water was coming out almost ice cold. We decided to again let the water run for 10 minutes, and nothing happened. We continually called the owner only for him to send us to voicemail. The runner for the hotel did come up with towels and explained that “others” were taking a shower and to wait. This is what the other person on her end of the phone told her to tell us. We were never followed up with. This was a 5 night stay, and we were never contacted back once. This would be the perfect hidden gem, but unfortunately this place lacks proper management and has no hot water. If you can bare a cold shower, this place would be suitable for you especially for the price in Gatlinburg this time of year. We were on the 2nd floor facing the woods on the very end of building closest to the outdoor seating.

The worst stay ever
I have no idea where to even start. The room had black mold on the wall, bug infested, and absolutely no hot water. This was by far the worst hotel I ever stayed at in my lifetime. We spent the entire stay killing bugs that we had to google to find out what they were. We complained and all we got was the “maintenance” came and swept them up. We were given one towel for 2 people. The bathroom had mold as well and not a drop of hot water considering the temps outside. It smelled musty and the bed was 2 twin bunk beds pushed together. The bed had a hump in the middle which made it horrible to sleep on. This place should not be allowed to remain open because it is a health hazard for sure. I’m not sure if management has changed since the good reviews but it is definitely horrible now. The check in process was a nightmare. We had to call 7 times before we were given a room number and door code. Steer clear of this place.

This particular property started off awful from the moment we got to the hotel. The “customer service” number you call RARELY will answer the phone. When he did manage to answer my calls the first time he told me I had no reservation then hung up on me. If it wasn’t for the awesome cleaning staff that hotel we would’ve never gotten in touch with a manager for ANYTHING! Our check in time was 4 and we weren’t able to get in our room until almost 5. The customer service for this hotel is a complete joke and is VERY VERY VERY RUDE. We will never stay here again nor will I ever recommend this hotel to anyone. Do yourself a favor and just don’t book here if you want to enjoy your stay. No hot water either fyi so if you like cold showers then good for you.

Don’t book or stay in this hotel. Is a scam!! Nobody is responsible for you there. We didn’t entry because they sent us a message that said is a contactless check in with a code to entry and was ok but when we arrived nobody was there!! Any other guess, workers or staff, we called and they just said is a contactless but when we booked this information wasn’t there and they said in the Expedia site that they will have front desk people until 10 pm but nobody show anywhere. Is very suspicious and dangerous because you don’t know who can entry on your room and nobody can help you because was anyone there!! Do no book this property! This people was to be out Expedia site, is a scammer, also I called Expedia and the first time they said yes is dangerous and we can help you find another hotel and refund my money but then they change their mind because someone told them someone is there but is not true. We took pictures off the property and we stay outside for more than 2 hours and nobody show. Terrible service and terrible hotel

Overall we were happy with the cleanliness and appearance of property. However, taking a lukewarm shower with poor water pressure and then not having heat due to unsafe electrical conditions was less than ideal. Also, we were not informed until on site that it was a contactless facility; this, in my opinion, was no longer necessary as we are not currently in a pandemic situation.
