Hotel Laki can give you a variety of very different experiences. The original(?) building had the better rooms (where I stayed - hence the positive review). Spacious, comfortable, with balcony/veranda. All around, a great room.
I did get to see one of the budget room in the newer part of the building - it wasn't great. Tiny, cramped, and just poor quality facilities.
They also have the private bungalows, which I didn't get to see, so I can't comment on the quality.
The common areas (restaurant, bar, sitting room) were all very nice and well up-kept. Breakfast was very good too.
Bottom line is, if you're getting a budget room, expect it not to match the rest of the hotel in terms of niceness. Spring for the nicer ones, if you can.
