Just a night stay hotel was lovely, clean and very friendly staff

The young lady who welcomed me on arrival didn’t look happy. She gave me brief directions to the room and didn’t want to leave her post. I asked to book a table for dinner but when I arrived in the dinning room, there was no reservation. However, they did fit me in. There was no check back during my meal and I was left for over 25 minutes after finishing. I was going to order a pud but instead had to find someone to sort my bill. It seemed as if it was an off day for the team. At breakfast I ordered Eggs Benedict but the muffin wasn’t fresh. My stay could have been so much better, which greatly frustrates me.

Impressive pub/hotel hybrid with vibrant wildlife art in public spaces and well equipped bedrooms. Huge bathroom with excellent walk-in shower. Great breakfast with extensive options. Very clean.

Beautiful well thought out rooms. Well decorated and spotlessly clean. Our king room had a slipper bath with privacy screen and a beautiful wetroom with twin sinks ,shower, toilet and lovely fluffy towels. The Lion and Swan is in Congleton town center, with free car parking a large dining lounge area, restaurant and bar. A comprehensive menu and our meals,both dinner and breakfast ,were really very good. There is also an adjoining Pecks restaurant with its own menu offering high end dining. The staff compliment the premises and were efficient, friendly and happy.

We could not see a reason why this Hotel has been given a 4* rating. Whist the bedroom was warm, clean and comfortable, it was small and part of the TV was behind the cupboard. The lounge, the only place to buy food, other than the restaurant with an expensive and limited menu, closed early, at 5pm on the Friday. The staff were pleasant and helpful, but the Hotel was clearly understaffed.

Has the potential to be so good. Hotel seemed pretty empty, but we were given a room at the back - we had upgraded and the room was nice, but awful view of kitchen chimneys. Breakfast was sadly awful, cold pancakes with semi warm contents. I'd love to recommend but sadly I can't.
