The towering Porto Cathedral offers sweeping views, while São Bento Station dazzles visitors with its elaborate tile murals. Livraria Lello's ornate wooden staircases attract book lovers, and the bustling Bolhão Market showcases local flavors. Traditional tascas serve authentic francesinha sandwiches alongside cozy wine bars pouring local port. Three metro stations and São Bento's train connections make exploring easy, though the neighborhood's charm is best appreciated on foot. Historic boutique hotels occupy beautifully restored buildings throughout this riverside district.

Bonfim
Bonfim offers a refreshing blend of authentic Porto life and emerging artistic energy. Wander past colorful azulejo-tiled facades to discover Igreja do Bonfim church, quaint neighborhood squares, and the lively creative scene taking root here. Artists and designers are breathing new life into this traditional area while respecting its Portuguese soul. Duoro River views and the Porto Historic Center are just minutes away. Getting around couldn't be easier with Campo 24 Agosto and Heroísmo metro stations connecting you to downtown. Traditional tascas serve hearty francesinhas alongside family-run cafés where locals gather for morning coffee. Choose from converted apartments or boutique guesthouses for an authentic stay away from tourist crowds.

Wander through Porto's historic center, where medieval alleys lead to unexpected viewpoints over the Douro River. The Bolhao Market buzzes with vendors selling everything from fresh fish to handmade soaps. At Dragao Stadium, join locals in their near-religious devotion to FC Porto, then recover with a port wine tasting across the river in Vila Nova de Gaia. The double-decker Dom Luis I Bridge offers spectacular views whether crossing on foot or by tram. Porto Coliseum hosts performances in a building that seems transported from another century. For the perfect afternoon, grab a francesinha sandwich and people-watch at a riverside café, where waiters somehow balance trays while navigating cobblestones with balletic precision.

Hotel Moon & Sun Porto
"The property is in a central location with many restaurants around , walking distance to main attractions. Room was nice enough. Staff are pleasant. Breakfast could be good for most people. It is heavy on pastries and the eggs are not great. My main problem was the bed. I was not comfortable and did not sleep well. Also there is significant noise coming from surrounding bars on Saturday nights until 2 am. Other nights were ok but I did use earplugs."

"My husband and I had a wonderful stay here!! It was a beautiful hotel and the breakfast was delicious to have each morning. We would recommend staying here if you’re planning to go to Porto"

4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel in Porto
- Book for the cheapest times: Visiting Porto on a budget can be a great value for money experience, especially during January, February, and November when hotel prices might drop to more affordable levels. With its rich array of historical landmarks, museums, and cultural attractions including the port, river, charming cafes, and romantic monuments, Porto offers a memorable journey into its storied past. For an ideal experience, plan to stay for at least 3 to 4 days to fully immerse yourself in the city's historical tours, dining, and shopping opportunities.
- Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: To explore last-minute deals for hotels in Porto, begin by checking the DealsOpens in a new window or Last-Minute Deals section on Hotels.com, where you may discover discounted rates as your travel date approaches. You could also enable email alerts or push notifications for updates on flash sales and special promotions, helping you stay informed about potential savings. Additionally, the Smart Shopping tool available via the app allows you to compare hotel prices and amenities, so if rooms become available or prices drop, you’ll be among the first to know, making it easier to snag a last-minute getaway.
- Be flexible with dates: Prices may vary based on factors like the hotel's location, star rating, and the time of year, so being flexible with your travel dates could help you save on your Porto hotel stay. For those seeking a unique experience, boutique hotels often offer a more personalized atmosphere and sometimes better value. When you book with Hotels.com, we’ll inform you if the price for your chosen dates is higher or lower than average. If it appears to be on the higher side, we may suggest more budget-friendly dates, which could help you find a better deal.
- Consider your location: Hotels near the city center usually tend to cost more. However, thanks to Porto’s excellent public transportation, you might find a more affordable independent hotel a bit farther out that’s still well connected. For those interested in exploring alternative, less crowded neighborhoods—or even lesser-known nearby cities—there is often excellent value for money. Opting for these alternative destinations could provide a more authentic and budget-friendly experience.
