Sadly, we did not have a good stay at the Claremont this time. We’ve been visiting for the past 10 years. The past couple of visits have been disappointing to say the least. This time we booked a deluxe room with two queen beds and we were put in a small, tiny room with a small bathroom with barely any room to move around. I doubt the beds were queen. Worst of all the AC did not work. This is unacceptable in a luxury hotel. We called to report the AC issue and the customer service was again super disappointing. Even though they did apologize and admitted that the AC system is old and cannot keep up with the heat on a hot day, they gave us credit of under 10% of the cost of our stay - that’s not nearly enough to compensate for not being able to sleep due to the heat in our room. And they never checked back with us to say their engineer came and solved the AC issue or did not solve the issue or if we need anything else. When we checked out, they did not ask us if we had a good stay, they did not even wish us a good day. Terrible customer service, especially given that this is a luxury hotel. They also said they can’t move us to another room because they are oversold - why would they end up oversold?? I hope they bring in new management and turn this around quickly because this is an otherwise beautiful historical property, lovely grounds and view, lots of potential.
