Disappointing Experience – Poor Service and Strict Rules
I recently stayed at the Barceló resort, and while the property itself was beautiful, the overall experience was frustrating due to the poor quality of service and unnecessary restrictions.
The biggest issue was the staff’s lack of attention to detail and urgency. Requests were often ignored or took forever to be fulfilled. Simple things like getting extra towels or ordering a drink at the bar felt like a chore. The staff seemed indifferent, and at times, even rude. For a resort of this caliber, I expected much better service.
Another major letdown was the food. The options were extremely limited, and the quality was underwhelming. By the second day, it felt like we were eating the same thing over and over again. For a resort that markets itself as high-end, I expected more variety and fresher ingredients.
To make matters worse, they enforce a strict dress code for dinner, requiring men to wear long pants. While I understand the need for some level of formality, this policy felt outdated and unnecessary, especially in a beachside resort. Meanwhile, service at the restaurants was slow, adding to the frustration.
It’s a shame because the resort itself is stunning, with great potential. However, the lack of attention to detail, poor service, and unnecessary rules made the stay more stressful than relaxing. I wouldn’t return, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone looking for a truly enjoyable vacation.
