I was awakened at 2:20 am when a man tried to enter my room. The door had no dead bolt, only the little flip latch. I immediately woke up, and yelled NO!. The man said he was sorry and closed the door. I called the desk. It took a few minutes to draw out of the male clerk what happened. He finally told me that the room showed as being ready, not filled. He finally asked me my name, then said I was in 208 not 108. I clearly was given a key for 108.
Then, when I came to the front door to get a ride to the airport which was one reason I chose this motel, the clerk was not there. The door was locked with a handwritten sign he was away from the desk. When he showed up he seemed surprised I needed ride. I said I told clerk when I checked in and she wrote it down. He unlocked a drawer and looked at something. It was now 4am, I said flight leaves at 5:20am. He said ok to sit and wait while he did something. Then he shows up in front in a family size van. Then he says he has to pick up another guest. We drive around the side of the building where a man is with 6 bags including a handicap scooter. After some discussion he says he will come back to get him.
I was very upset about the slack room assignment system, lack of dead bolt on door, and unprofessional system, and vehicle for ride to airport. No renovations can outweigh these shortcomings. La Quinta has a reputation of higher standards than this motel exhibited, the should be upset.
