Chinatown Storytelling Centre is in the Bank of Montreal building in the heart of Chinatown. The museum showcases important events for the Chinese community in Canada dating from the 19th century to the present day. The short, guided tour is highly recommended as the emphasis is on listening to stories and questions and interaction are encouraged.

The special events are popular with both locals and tourists alike. They range from live music and book signings to Chinese Lunar New Year festivities and a celebration of Bruce Lee. The metered parking here can get busy, so it’s a good idea to use the large car park in Chinatown Plaza on Keefer Street. The walk from there takes less than 5 minutes.

Bloedel Conservatory is a beautiful, domed building in the heart of Queen Elizabeth Park. When it’s raining, this is a great escape to a tropical paradise of over 100 exotic birds and over 500 plants. Stroll through this temperature-controlled dome and be awestruck at the sights and sounds of the birds, especially the magnificent colours of the macaws, cockatoos and parrots.

Inside the Bloedel Conservatory, the walking trails take you through 3 distinct areas: tropical rainforest, subtropical rainforest and desert. You can learn about fig trees, exotic ferns, coffee plants and lilies or you can just wander through the dome taking in the peaceful and lush surroundings.

Rogers Arena is next to the BC Place Stadium in central Vancouver. For live music or fast-action sports, this is a great place to visit. The arena attracts world-class names from all music genres, including Madonna, Kiss, Shania Twain and Burna Boy, and there are often several concerts a month.

The Holy Rosary Cathedral is an oasis of calm in the centre of one of Canada’s busiest cities. Located in the heart of downtown, it’s a striking example of French Gothic architecture and as you enter the cathedral, you’ll be struck by its sheer size and beauty. The colours and designs in the 20+ stained glass windows are breath-taking, and the Our Lady of the Holy Rosary window has even been featured on a Canada Post stamp.
