An exciting village in the middle of the big city.
Had a very nice stay. Its a safe, little haven in the middle of a busy city, close to the water, good restaurants and the boat out to Bongoyo Island. It offers a variety of activitys and shopping, and even a playground for the children. The staff is very helpfull, and nice.

This was my second time at this facility. A mid-week stay was mostly quiet and the staff is great. But the rooms are getting a little dated and 2 1/2 days of no wifi was a big challenge. If my home plan did not have unlited data, I would have had a very difficult time traveling.

I really enjoyed my stay. I booked it specifically for its location (Sunset, restaurants/bars by the ocean) and I was not disappointed. It's true there is music outside at night but with the AC on, I couldn't hear anything so it's not very high. Breakfast was OK. People were welcoming and accommodating. Overall, I recommend this hotel!

This hotel in a colonial style typical of East Africa was just a gem. We were given a nice room, large enough and with all we could wish for. The staff as all Tanzanians were just the friendliest and most helpful, going out of their way to make our stay a delay. We felt cared for and appreciated. When we go back to Tanzania we will go back to Slipway. The area of the hotel offered everything the heart would enjoy on a vacation: Nice walks, good restaurants, little gift shops, clothing shops, cafes etc. Assante.

Fantastic Visit
Fantastic location, wonderful staff (shoutout to Freddy!) and wonderful amenities. I cannot say enough good things about the accommodations and staff at Slipway. Courteous, friendly and thoughtful. They assisted me at the bank across the courtyard, provided restaurant suggestions and arranged private transport and accompaniment for me to do some market shopping in the city. Excellent value for money. I look forward to staying again!

I’ve stayed in this hotel a few times and it’s usually reliable. This time however it was not and I had to move rooms several times due to various maintenance issues. Despite a recent renovation one of the buildings needs another round of repairs. The staff were helpful when I brought the issues to their attention but there doesn’t seem to be any senior management presence. The breakfast also badly needs an update. All rooms should have mosquito nets too.

I stayed in the standard room and the executive room with ocean view. Pros: Convenient location with restaurants, bars, and juice/coffee/tea shops. Live bands at the restaurants at night. The standard room was recently renovated. Cons: Wifi was spotty in the standard room. The air conditioner was installed at an odd spot, the closet was blocking most of the cold air coming out of it. The shower was not properly sealed, water leaked through the gaps. The sofa and the cushions were old and smelly, like they were never washed/cleaned. Both rooms were not ready past the check in time.

If you like quiet this isn’t the place for you. The restaurants outside the hotel plays music all day every day and shops and restaurants are busy with tourists and locals well into the wee hours. If someone is singing live then it will be extremely loud in the seaside rooms. When I checked in my room it had a strong urine smell. The carpet needs to be taken up and shouldn’t even be in hotel rooms on the beach. Nice atmosphere to be in overall but the older side of the hotel is very run down. There is a completely different section of rooms by the Hotel reception side which is a lot better and more quiet. The staff is very nice. Breakfast needs improvement.

El hotel se encuentra rodeado de diferentes tiendas y restaurantes, lo que resulta muy conveniente, sin embargo es bastante ruidoso, ya que tienen música todos los días hasta las 22h o 23h. También tiene acceso al ferry a Bongoyo Island. No hay piscina infantil. Sin embargo, disfrutamos mucho la estancia. La habitación era cómoda y con vistas al mar.
