The hotel is as grand in real life as it looks on the pictures. Very stylish exterior and hallways that ooze history but are in great condition. We had the more spacious superior room, but other than the higher ceilings and windows and a few more square meters, I don't think there's a huge difference over their standard comfort rooms. And that's good, because our room was great. Great stylish interior, well maintained, a practical bathroom, a great bed and plenty of storage space. The only thing to pick on were the pillows; way too small and soft.
While on the topic of things to improve; for a hotel this size, I would have expected a gym and I was quite disappointed they had none. The hotel is connected to a wellness centre, but it's a separate business. It's also quite hard to work out how to get to reception when you arrive late like we did. There's poor signage other than warning you not to park anywhere and with only a single person manning the bar, phones and reception, we struggled to get in and get served. There is free parking outside the hotel as well as secure parking at the hotel.
There are lots of things in the area to explore as well as a shopping village and restaurants right next door. Which is good, because if you only want simple breakfast you probably don't want to dish out Eur 25 per person for breakfast at the hotel.
All in all we had a great stay. This hotel is close to being the best one in the area, provided they address some of the points above.
