Shelter Cove ocean view room

Drive to shelter Cove was brutal. Location of hotel was good but the description of the room was inaccurate. Panoramic view was parking lot, front lawn and large pine tree. Ocean view was seen when standing in a certain spot in the room and observing a small wedge of ocean. The room was clean and comfortable but overall disappointing.

Great seaside hotel

We used this hotel for the starting and stoping point of our 26-mile hike on the Lost Coast. It was a wonderfully charming spot with amazing views. The rooms were lean and well supplied, and the process was managed very well. We also had breakfast at the cafe after our hike, and we loved the food, coffee, and the service. Highly recommend.

Seals on Rocks.

Great views of the beach. Really comfortable beds. Great shower. Parking was easy. Great little place for breakfast in the morning. The seals on the rock beach were a bonus!

The hotel is a bit run down. Front door was half painted, lots of things are rusty and weathered, the slider is very difficult to operate. The bed is hard and old, the pillows are flat. The heater on the wall does not work so you get to use a small space heater. Redeeming qualities are the location, just leave the slider open and listen to the waves. Also, the jacuzzi tub is pretty awesome.

Don’t stay here

First of all the photos of the property shown on the website must be 20 years old. The building itself is very worn looking actually close to shabby. The room accommodation itself is minimalist. The television was impossible to operate. I never was able to get anything but the golf channel.

Fantastic Stay

Oceanfront Inn at Shelter Cove was the perfect place for us to stay in Shelter Cove. While the outside is unassuming, the inside was very nice and larger than expected with first rate ocean views. Convienent location with a cafe on the ground level that puts you within walking distance to the golf course and brewery. Would defenitly recomment.

Simply amazing and breathtaking!

I had an amazing and relaxing time at the Oceanfront Inn. The view is simply breathtaking. My room was very clean, and it is well decorated. It is so quiet here, as well! No sounds of busy roads, just the sound of the Pacific. The drive on the winding mountain roads are well worth it! The Innkeeper Nickie is awesome. She called me right before I was ready to leave for my trip. She really accommodated me when the room I booked wasn't available- thank you again, Nickie! I will definitely be back, hopefully I can stay longer next time!

Property is in a great location and that is worth 5 stars but, that doesn't count. There was a dirty towel behind the bathroom door. We had a great time the first night, but, as soon as below unit got visitors they had loud music and did smoke quite a lot, which somehow was entering our units even with the windows closed. The unit also does NOT have a HVAC system, and there was only one space heater, which should be 2, for the bedroom and for the living area. The gas heater in the living room wasn't working. The unit was super clean, kitchen and bathroom were nice. There was nobody at the office whenever I was there, maybe I had bad luck. but we resolved our concerns over the phone. Outside the Unit 1 and 2 door there is a lot of trash or stuff just sitting there, looking bad., and it is near the dumpsters which also look bad there without a wall or hide. The location as I said was great and the furniture and kitchen also had everything we needed. thank you.

This is not our first time staying here and last year was amazing. This year we arrived to find no working furnace. I texted the inn keeper as they arent physically present and was advised to go down to the unlocked small closet and get a space heater. I plugged the space heater in and it smelled like it wanted to catch on fire and then stopped working. I got a second one and it worked very well. The smoke detector is removed from the room and the refrigerator froze all of our food including half gallon juice containers. The inn keepers quarters have rotted tarps on the roof and the stairwell to the right is rotted so water pours through as you go up and down the stairs. The contactless check in is less than desireable as when i went to get more shower towels all that was in the bin was cleaned doggie or dirty towels. All of the directory information for the cove was removed. The binder with restaurant menus and trails was no longer there. I will say that the restaurant below, surf point coffee, was amazing as it was last year. We made the best of what was super lacking compared to last year. Indont know what happened to previous inn keeper, but now there is a new one and she was responsive to me via phone, but it seemed like her hands were tied. The owners of the building have alot of work to do. The buildings envelope needs serious help and closure.

Amazing views, used the hot tub every day, clean and neatly decorated and so nice they allow dogs. Check in was super easy. Heater doesn't work but they provided a space heater in the room which left on heated up the room surprisingly well

The place was great in so many ways. The view and the beach and the sunset…. Just gorgeous. I never saw anyone who worked at the hotel. Apparently, ice is available in the office (according to the guide in the room), yet no one episode ever there, and there was nothing looking like a freezer. Again, the place is mostly great, just weird to never interact with a human once the booking was solid.
