Great Stay, Except Heat and Wi-Fi
Hyatt alway is all about quality. On-site amenities and service was great. The room was pretty straightforward, and clean. However, it’s cold in Chicago, so the bed-side window had a terrible draft! The heat was on a motion timer, and frequently, it was cold in the room. We purchased a small heater to keep warm during our week stay. The wi-if sucked! Always going out, making TV watching impossible, and delayed working on the unbearable. Overall, aside from these two issues, it’s Hyatt for us.

Best Hotel in Hyde Park
Hotel staff were very friendly and able to assist with many requests. Breakfast was good and plentiful. Would have preferred to have hot water and coffee in the lobby a little longer. They close it shortly after breakfast while many hotels have it out all day. At least there is an option to make coffee in the room. Hotel pool was small and cold but I appreciated the reservation system which assured our family could use the pool when we planned. Very easy access to UChicago and their free shuttle. Wish they didn’t take advantage of UChicago families and raise the prices so high for Family weekend, but understand market demand.

Great hotel if visiting UChicago
Chuck was so helpful giving me an umbrella from the staff collection when I needed to go out in the unexpected rain. Pool reservation system is very helpful because the pool is so small. Breakfast was good, but not much variety.

hotel location was very good for us. spacious rooms. this was our 2nd stay in a one week period. IMPORTANT ADVICE ON PARKING -- metered parking is available on the street. MUCH cheaper than the $40/night parking garage. only need to pay M-Sat from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm.

Crowded cars on the streets, no where to park to even check in, had to park 2 blocks over at MCDOnalds( quite a few homeless people just hanging out on the side walk) and had to walk to checkin. Tried to check in at 4pm. The check in time was 3PM. I was told the room wasn’t ready and had to wait until 5:30 in the lobby until it was done. I had to get a parking pass to be able to park my car under the hotel, which I had to walk back to McDonalds to get. Not a great experience and morning staff was not friendly, breakfast was a normal continental not to bad.

It was fine. Some family members with small children had to wait until after 9:00 pm for a room to become available. That was extremely unfortunate and the only snag on an otherwise pleasant stay. The hotel staff were very friendly, helpful and gracious, the breakfast was great, the parking was convenient, and the room was comfortable.
