Carberry Manor House is a castle built in the 15th century. It is really beautiful. We enjoyed our self guided tour of the public rooms (library, music room, parlor, etc). It has been expertly updated for modern use while keeping original features like stone work, fire places and stained glass. There are lovely antiques scattered throughout the public rooms. And the gardens are stunning.
We were there in summer. Our room was on the top floor, and it was really over warm. It was an executive room, but it was tiny and had sloping garrett ceiling that we kept bumping our heads on. The twin beds were not regular size twins - they were too narrow to even turn over. And the mattresses were hard and uncomfortable. So I doubt we’d stay there again, even though it was a fun experience staying in a castle.
The buffet breakfast was excellent, with a wide variety of selections to make a full Scottish breakfast. And the dining staff was attentive and quick to bring whatever else we needed.
