Papeete is a very busy town, the largest in French Polynesia, so the port, for example, is rather industrial. Otherwise Tahiti is green and beautiful with incredibly clear warm water. And the natives are very friendly!

Papeete has friendly, relaxed people and good food. The city seemed a bit dirtier than other island nations I've traveled to. Uber is not available but taxis were readily available and all drivers we encountered were very nice.

It had been 25 years since our last visit to Papeete so a lot had changed. We were there on a Sunday, so everything was quiet - shops are closed.

Polynesians are the happiest people on Earth. They smile a lot. They say hello on the street. It is very safe.

Everyone we encountered was very friendly, did not spend a lot of time in Papeete as it was one overnight before traveling to our next destination.

This town could use a lot more restaurants and shopping close to the Port
"The room was comfortable with a wonderful view across the infinity pool, looking at Moorea. The restaurant food was very good, though the buffet breakfast was a bit overpriced . . . Very nice hotel and friendly and good staff."
"I stay here when i need to be in Papeete. Its convenient to the businesses i need to frequent, the property is in excellent condition and the staff is friendly and helpful. The hostel rooms are great, especially because the hotel is convenient to everything I need."
"Highlight is the very kind and accommodating staff. Everyone last person was friendly and helpful, especially the young intern at the front desk. The La Lotus restaurant is surprisingly outstanding. The over water bungalows desperately need to be modernized, but were clean and comfortable. For the prices, especially the bungalow prices, please improve the pool chairs to add cushions. The spa was adequate but is in a small cramped space. Gym is roomy and well kept. "
