You can catch an event at Lane Stadium, located 0.6 mi (1 km) from central Blacksburg. If you think Lane Stadium is cool, you also might like Cassell Coliseum and Women’s Softball Field, both located nearby.
Cheer on the Hokies at Lane Stadium, then explore the charming downtown's local shops and eateries. Hike the Cascades Trail to a stunning 66-foot waterfall or tour Virginia Tech's beautiful campus.
We were there during Winter break so it was a bit unusual, no students anywhere. But seeing sleepy Blacksburg, frozen and empty, was a real treat. No crowds. No wait at restaurants. Loved it.

Good
Blacksburg seems like a cool small-ish town but is easily overwhelmed by surges of visitors. When busy, parking and traffic are horrendous. The lack of attention to detail by a community apparently dominated by engineers is puzzling.

Many restaurants within walking distance and easy to navigate via car. The area was clean and well lit at night.

It is very convenient as it is only a few minutes drive to the university but there are not many options to eat. If you want to have a good dinner you have to drive to Christiansburg.

I am a VT alumni (class of 2006) and I absolutely love Blacksburg. I highly recommend it to anyone considering visiting!
"The room was everything youd expect from a sub 100 a night place but a little better. The property as a whole, the bathroom and the sheets were clean and the staff from the front desk to the cleaners doing their rounds were friendly. The free breakfast was packed but moved fast with coffee and pancakes.
There are smoking and pet options too which many travelers have less options for their stay.
Ive never had a problem in wytheville and this stay was another success at an affordable, clean and friendly location."
