Pricey, Broken Toilet, Stuck in Elevator
The hotel was decorated nicely and we were all very excited to stay. The front desk person and the valet guy were very friendly. Unfortunately, our toilet ran and every time it kicked on, about every 40 seconds, the pipes made a loud noise. I paid a lot of money to stay there and ended up with a terrible night of sleep. The following morning my family packed up to make a 9 hour drive and there was no one available to pick up our car from valet. The women showed us the elevator that would take us to the parking garage. We got in and ended up getting stuck in the elevator because it wouldn’t move without an employee card. Between the bad night of sleep and getting stuck in the elevator, I am not happy with the stay.

Nightclub across from hotel ruins it!
This boutique hotel is nicely elevated BUT, be aware of the thumping, pulsating base music that literally gets in your soul every night from the nightclub directly across the street! There was another couple checking out that complained of the very same thing and white noise and ear plugs didn’t help! It’s a shame—this would be a 10/10 otherwise. Do not expect a good night’s sleep!

Hotel with character
This was an older building with character (difficult to find in Charlotte) in the heart of Uptown. It was well-maintained with friendly staff. It was part hotel/part residences so the layout was a little strange. However the restaurant/bar once found, was lovely (we had breakfast there). The staff truly wanted to make our stay special.

Amazing place in uptown
The hotel itself and the staff are amazing and I'd recommend it to anyone, but there's one thing that needs to be noted. Their premium suites are located in the front of the hotel meaning they're next to the main street traffic. The noise from the street traffic itself is what you'd expect it to be in any downtown area, and the rooms are pretty well insulated to block all that out; HOWEVER, the opposite corner of the intersection from where the hotel is located houses a couple of bars/clubs, and last night (which was Saturday, so it might just be a weekend thing) I could literally feel the bass from their speakers vibrating the bed until they closed at around 2:30am. It's not the hotel's fault, and it's not really the bar's fault either because that's just their business, I would just recommend the balcony rooms for people who are planning on staying up late. I guess it's also worth noting that the three balcony rooms, while all having the same amenties, are not the same, so if you're looking at something particular in one of the pictures (like the claw foot tub in front of the window, which is in room 203 but not 202 or 201) then make sure you call the hotel and get some details. Please don't take this as complaints about the hotel, they're just a couple of things I think need to be pointed out so people end up in the rooms they'll be happiest in. Like I stated in the beginning, the facility is immaculate and the staff are amazing.

5th anniversary
Gteat stay down fall elevator was down and ibwas on the 2nd floor, and the security guard at the lounge was horrible but it was his 1st day and he learned real quick the bartender and the bartenders maanger at Sophia's was awesome they went above and beyond so it overall was a great get away

Potential but needs improvement
The hotel itself is very elegant. Rooms are nicely appointed. Restaurant and private library lounge are great. My only issues are the elevator does not work, so you have to lug suitcases upstairs, Valet is slow to get vehicle (took 25 minutes) and when i requested a noon check out instead of 11, they would not grant.

This was a wonderful way to spend my 40th birthday! Everything was exquisite. Customer service, top tier. I especially enjoyed Sophia's Lounge. The mellow presence and seclusion, was just perfection. Highly recommended.

The staff and ambiance was everything!
I celebrated my birthday in Charlotte and chose to stay at the at the Ivey’s. Besides the property being elegant and cozy, the staff and service was impeccable. They remembered my birthday, called to confirm my reservations, and the valet staff were friendly and fast. Full stock in room bar with snacks, and the overall ambiance of the hotel was very inviting. I will definitely being staying here again on my next overnight in Charlotte.
