For the price of a 5-star hotel: Beach is not swimmable, barely walkable with the shape corse sand. The fake palm tree in the water makes a real eyesore. Room was small and dark with cheap, stained furniture and patchy painted-over walls & ceiling. Buffets looked and tasted like hospital food, and ala carte items made me miss McDonalds like never before. Worst part was front desk service - Miss Desha Lak was a real piece of work - no eye contact, slammed check in form on counter with her palm, threw a pen on top, and so much despise in her tone that made us feel really unwelcome. She also refused to help with currency exchange - “check the rates yourself over there” were her exact words. Our stay at this godforsaken hotel really ruined our wonderful time in Sri Lanka. Please don’t make the same mistake we did.

Difficult to believe the hotel is only 3 yrs old, the build quality is terrible. The general cleanliness was not up to standard. We had two of the more expensive rooms, one of the rooms 3501 had leaks inside whenever it rained. Similar to Chinese torture, with a constant dripping sound. With these rooms came large terraces, unfortunately when it rained impossible to use, due to poor design and build quality the water still came under the covered area. We booked through ebookers hoping for a quality hotel, which has been the case up and till now. The staff were very friendly and helpful, but the rooms and general cleanliness were not up to standard. I have photos of patch work (paper taped on to cover certain areas, cardboard in the door lock, etc...)

The room was good, clean, and it had a great view. Food was good. Great pool and access to the beach. Minor detailing in the room bathroom (dangerous swinging and sliding doors). Electricity shut down a few times during our visit, entailing that the elevators didn’t work and we had to walk down from our seventh floor room.

Amari Galle is a well designed gem of a hotel near Galle. It had a superb breakfast and warm swimming pool and wasnt to busy during our stay. Lots to do around the vast gardens and expansive levels.

I would definitely stay at Amari Galle again. It was the perfect hotel for the beginning of our trip in Sri Lanka. We were given a beautiful room, a surprise for our honeymoon and the service was excellent.
