An hotel with an exceptional view
Probably the best hotel to stay in on Bute, but the hotel needs a lot of investment to bring it back to its former glory. That said, the bed was very comfy, the breakfast very good and lots of hot water too. The staff work really hard to make the best of it. They have a good chef, and dinner was above expectations. But the view is the best!

Disappointing stay, but staff were great
Booked large room with sea view, room size was great, deco was a little dated, tired looking and the bed a little hard. The bathroom was clean but the shower wasn’t very powerful. Unfortunately the hotel was undergoing building works (wasn’t aware of this at time of booking) with the window in our room being blocked by scaffolding & waste shoot which spoilt the view and disturbed the peaceful setting I’d been looking forward to.
Staff were friendly and breakfast the next morning was lovely.

Hotel was nice, but every carpet needed cleaning, very heavily stained and dirty. Also worth being aware that there are a lot of steps up to the hotel so we had to carry a pram up the steps to get in and out each day. If there is an accessible route, we didn’t see one and nobody told us of one.

Lovely location, relaxing break
Large old style hotel with faded glamour which new owners are setting about restoring and improving. Nice restaurant with good food, large bar area in need of rethinking of the seating and with views over the bay. Had a sea view room which was lovely. Heating on full blast in a warm June weekend but large old single glazed windows merited the heating! Nice and relaxing 2 night stay, sufficient time to see island’s highlights and hotel a 10 minute walk to town centre.
