Because of the proximity to SJO airport, I booked this hotel as an "in-between" after a long travel day ... But what a surprise, this place is a little piece of heaven right outside the city! The hotel property is like it's own little secret National Park! Rooms have air conditioning via a mini-split and private patios looking over the grounds! Plenty of parking if you're renting a car. Very well kept with even some hiking trails! The restaurant is a lovely indoor/outdoor setting and we had some pretty incredible meals! The only thing I regret is not booking this place for longer! We will be back!

Excellent place to stay for a night on arrival as its only around 20 minutes from the airport. A lovely place to start our trip with a very authentic feel. We didn’t get to experience much as we were so tired after our flight but the breakfast was amazing. Price was excellent

The “Honeymoon Suite” with 1 king bed had a ton of space and a large outdoor terrace (it was on the second floor). The restaurant was good for both dinner and the included breakfast. It is on a busy road but feels secluded with the gate and large property.

Tropical garden near the airport

We chose this as our first night in Costa Rica due to proximity to the airport (20min drive) Lovely pool area and the food at the onsite restaurant is delicious and such good value. Staff were helpful and approachable We explored the onsite walking trails and the garden setting is lush and tropical.

This place was, truly, exceptional! From feeling safe on the secure grounds to providing an amazing breakfast to having spectacular views. We enjoyed our stay at Villa San Ignacio and would do it again in a heartbeat if we were back in the area! I highly recommend this place to stay if you’re looking for a simple and comfortable room. The service at this cute little villa was superb. Our waiter was extremely personable and made our first night in Costa Rica very memorable. The rooms were clean and spacious. The shower’s water pressure was amazing. The hotel was a little noisy since it is right off of a well-traveled road and we heard loud motorcycles well into the night. The mattress was fine for me, but some others in my group complained about it being too firm.

Great Stay

What a great place to stay for the night before our flight. The beds are firm, which I like, and the pillows are probably the most comfortable pillows of all my travels. The fish tacos were excellent and the gallo pinto in the typico breakfast was the best I’ve had on 2 trips to Costa Rica. The place was very clean. Hot water in the showers was excellent and the water pressure is the highest pressure I’ve seen anywhere including my own home in the States. The one negative is the street noise. It was extremely loud in our standard room. We were not in a room facing the street but on the back side of the building near the street. The motorcycles and big trucks did finally quiet down from about 10 or 11 pm until maybe 6 am. My tip: Pay extra to get a room not at the front of the property.
