The hotel has a lot going for it: the location is excellent, the price is reasonable for New York, and the rooms are clean. The staff were friendly and helpful – especially the lady at check-in who kindly arranged a late check-out for me, and the security team who were really nice.
That said, there are drawbacks. The rooms are very small, and with only two elevators serving 36 floors, the wait times can be frustrating – often it’s quicker to take the stairs.
The biggest concern, however, is at the front of the hotel. Groups of local people frequently gather outside, sitting on the hotel’s chairs (and even bringing their own). While the security staff do their best, this creates an uncomfortable environment for guests entering and leaving the property. The fact that constant security presence is required highlights the issue.
Until the hotel addresses this problem, I would not recommend staying here, which is a real shame given the positives.
