Staff was very friendly and courteous however the hotel itself seemed to be in need of some work. Tiles loose on the floor in bathroom, elevator not operating, etc.

We were awoken by screaming and yelling at 1am. This continued for several hours even after a call to the front desk. Guests were unruly and uncontrollable and other guests were seen engaged in illegal activities. The hotel itself was in a nice location, close to the mall, however, the clientele was questionable and left us feeling unsafe especially after the police were called.

During covid, when you expect cleanliness to be a priority, we found that our room was dirty, with food crumbs all over the floor, the shampoo and soap dispenser in the shower were both empty, and the TV and lamps didn’t work. Overall a very uncomfortable experience.

Candlewood was clean and the staff was friendly. The rooms look alot bigger online than in person. Its in a great location if you are traveling to Presque Isle. If you book through hotels.com, you pay hotels.com and then hotels.com uses their own credit card to pay Candlewood. Please make sure the front desk person does not try to use the credit card supplied by hotels.com for incidentals. It will decline and they will not be able to check you in. You will need to provide your credit card but its o ly for incidentals. You will not be charged twice for the room. This had to be explained to the fromt desk person by a custoner service rep at hotels.com. It took us 30 minutes just to check in because the front desk person didnt know that.

Despite notices on the door that people are to wear masks, literally NONE of the staff wore them at all, a few had them around their necks. I asked that no servicing of my room take place while I was there.

I understood Covid- 19 was precedented and rightfully so! But there were 5 sheets of toilet tissue left on the roll. The hand sanitizer at time of check in was at the front counter and empty(???). I had my own Lysol wipes , and Lysol spray thank goodness because the bathroom toilet cover lid was seemingly unclean. The bed sheets had to be visibly shaken. This is not my first visit; my son attends the University nearby, but by far the worse( despite Covid-19) these were controlled circumstances that could have been appropriately adhered to. Thanks!

Didn’t really like it. During my 2 night 3 day stay, the maid service never came. We ran out of toilet paper and had to ask for a roll! The trash cans in the room and bathroom were full. Beds never made up, etc. etc.
