This is an excellent hotel, and well appointed room. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Foods in the restaurant was in high quality. Unfortunately, we stayed in the days when the whole UK was facing heat wave, with temperature closed to 38. Room facing the west suffered from extreme hot. The fans in the room could not help. But that’s the hotel could do very little.

A lovely place in the Essex campus. Attentive staff, comfortable room with nespresso machine and huge bed. Very quiet and great for exploring the area.

Anniversary Trip

Clean Rooms, Attentive and friendly staff, quiet and peaceful sleep. Only thing id suggest is hooks in the Superior rooms just for quick access to handbag/jacket rather than drapping them on chair or having to take them off hangers in the wardrobe. Also, the vanity mirror in the bathroom should have its own socket/electricity switch as having the vanity mirror light on with the bathroom light gets very bright and overwhelming first thing in the morning.

Nice stay

Nice hotel in a great setting, very handy for the university sports complex next door. Food and service in the restaurant was excellent. The only thing to note is that this hotel does not have air conditioning, there is a fan in the room but it can still get pretty warm if the weather is nice.

Beautiful hotel, very peaceful and the rooms are done out to a high standard. They do not look tired or well worn it really is a lovely hotel. The staff were really polite and attentive. I really can’t fault the fit and finishing of the whole building and rooms. There was no noise from adjacent rooms which you sometimes get with other hotels. The grounds surrounding the hotel are beautifully kept and there is no road or traffic noise. Really is a great stay and location. Comfy beds slept really really well, and nice to have a fridge and safe as standard.

Anniversary night away

Wivenhoe house is beautiful, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The bedroom was very comfortable and spotlessly clean, it’s nice to have a coffee machine instead of the usual cheap instant sachets. Bathroom was a good size, extremely clean with a powerful shower. Food both in the evening and breakfast was well presented and delicious. All the staff were very friendly and professional. We will stay again.
