10/10 Exceptional

1 night stay

A good well fitted room, with ample parking and a continental breakfast included. Friendly staff.

10/10 Exceptional

The staff are friendly and accommodating. The hotel is a bit tired, but for a 17th century building it's amazing. The room and bathroom were clean and well equipped. The bed was comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and filling. Will definitely go again when I'm in the area.
Stephanie, 1-night trip

2/10 Poor

No one at reception for check in, took twenty minutes to find someone, dirty rooms, wallpaper hanging off the ceiling, no hot water and “continental breakfast” and not had toast available. Such a shame as lovely building, quiet setting but very tired and staff obviously don’t want to be there

Fine for one night

A little expensive. The room was lovely and spacious but the bathroom was really quite poorly kept.

Run down. Needs investment. Not clean.

Very run-down hotel. Dining area lacked sufficient staff to keep things clean.

Receptionist made the weekend

I was staying for a weekend whilst playing in a sport tournament and the receptionist was incredibly helpful and went above and beyond to help me and other team mates staying at the hotel. I was in the bridal suite which was a pleasant surprise as we then used this as a team base. Breakfast was nice, the continental included was a bit basic and could have done with a fruit bowl. The cooked breakfast was lovely and well worth the extra £5 when we got it. It’s an older building and decorated in keeping with the period which is lovely of high ceilings and ornate coving. There were a few spider webs and spiders in corners and window frames but it is the time of year for them as well. We didn’t manage to try the restaurant as we’re back at the hotel too late after match days. The hotel was quiet and would be lovely for older visitors, as we weren’t loud at all, but we didn’t fit in still.

Only stayed one night but the hotel was ok. A little bit tired in places. Staff were very pleasant.

Poor nights sleep

In fairness this was just a 1 night stay but this is a very basic hotel in its current state. The reception is quite welcoming as an old Manor House style building. However the facilities in the bedroom are basic and a bit grubby. Our main issue was the comfort of the bed. It was so hard, like sleeping on a board, we didn’t sleep well at all. We opted for the inclusive continental breakfast with was acceptable but again very basic. Cutlery was rather dirty/water stained like it had just come out of the dishwasher. Nobody on reception when we left to highlight our observations even though this was at around 10 am. Wouldn’t stay here again. Quite cheap but needs attention in a number of areas.

Lovely property. Breakfast wasn’t the best this time.

Friendly Staff and Spacious Rooms

The staff were welcoming, even asked if we needed help taking our luggage to our room. The room was big and spacious, did have issues trying to turn the temperature down on the shower, but manage to work it out in the end. Went to the bar in the evening, very relaxing, the only downside was due to beibg short staff, they were struggling to keep on top of the washing up. Had a lovely sleep and the continental breakfast was good, staff did ask if we wanted to upgrade to a cooked breakfask, but we declined. Checkout was simple and easy, would definitely stay again.

Just one night business trip. Have stayed before. Good location and parking. Lady at check in was friendly and welcoming. Room confortable. Good bathroom and shower. Hotel feels tired. Needs attention. Check out guy at reception too busy walking about on his phone to cimnunicate with guests. Could be good if service and decor were revamped.

The hotel is in a lovely area & convenient for my needs. It has become shabby since I was last there. £8 for a pint is ridiculous !
IAN, 1-night trip

4/10 Fair

No food available arriving 8.30 after long drive. No milk in room to make a coffee. Filthy brown toilet and dirty bathroom floo, stained plastic shower curtain. Peeling paper on ceiling. Very soft indented mattress with no mattress protector just sheet straight on mattress. Single pill cases on old lumpy pillows. Breakfast plates all dirty. Egg on toast eggs greasy hard yolks and burnt whites. Didn’t bother with cooked fast after that. Will not be going again very poor for £98 per night

Basic not staffed up adequately particularly at breakfast where everything ran out. No tables set
Beryl, 1-night trip

2/10 Poor

Not a great stay

Rooms are incredibly dated and in need of some urgent work. Bath tap was damaged, shower head was covered in mold and signs of damp on the ceiling.

Lovely hotel, super service and staff. The beds were really comfy. But the included breakfast was a very poor. Not what we had expected

Corporate hotel in need of a update

Friendly at réception desk on arrival. However I was told I'd have to pay an extra £ 20 to check in at noon so we could change for a 1 pm wedding. Overall the hotel is rather sad. Room was large, and bed comfortable, but the decor throughout the hotel needed sprucing up and updating: it looked very corporate 90s with chipping paint, faded and worn carpets. Bathroom had mold around the shower.
