日光一角公寓飯店 - 棕櫚泉

From check in to check out we had a great time. Rick was lovely, waited for us even though we were a little late checking in. The hotel was very quiet, felt very safe in the neighbourhood, a little out of the main action in town but that was what we wanted. We didn’t use the pool or sit round it but it looked lovely. We stayed in one of the smaller rooms in which there was a great little kitchen area, so quaint. The bathroom could have done with a shelf or two, but loved the rainhead shower.

This place is old school cute. We have talked about coming back in the warmer months because the pool looks amazing (set in the middle of all of the bungalows). It has more charm because it was built for the cast & crew of "A Place in the Sun" in 1951. Who can argue with that and the "fireplaces" in the rooms. They were comfortable. The staff is wonderful and accommodating with our late check in. I wish it was a little closer to walk to downtown, but parking on that side was easy.

This place is outdated but cute. Stayed here over the weekend with a friend and booked the largest of the cottages, with a fireplace, full kitchen and fireplace. It was clean and large, the kitchen was well stocked with dishes and cookware and there was a nice BBQ on the patio. The furniture and building itself were both pretty outdated and worn out - and the second bedroom of the cottage was occupied by someone else and it was like having a stranger staying in the house, he even mistakenly walked into our living room twice even though there was a separate entrance. You have to request maid service, they didn't come at all because we didn't know that. All of the quirks aside, we both really liked how different it was from staying at a large resort. The grounds are neat and private and the pool was small and chilly. (The high-voltage power lines that go lengthwise over the pool are of concern, I'm still unclear how the city of Palm Springs ignores that.) Lastly, the hotel management is a little invasive and petty - starting with stinginess over giving us pool towels, made-up, unofficial restrictions on having visitors, etc. - it was a little ridiculous to be monitored, especially when we were very quiet and respectful and totally kept to ourselves. Again - extremely unnecessary and petty. Because of that alone I think I would be very unlikely to book this place again and warn anyone considering that you will not have privacy.
