Very good value for money
I visited Trondheim as a city tourist in the summer, but almost everybody else in the hostel was cycling or hiking their way through Norway.
This hostel is absolutely for such people.
To start with, there is a very cheap laundromat in the building next to the hostel. Just 25 NOK (about €2) for a wash and free drying!!! That is the cheapest laundry I have done on trips in Europe.
The hostel also has a kitchen, which was used by a few people to cook large quantities of food to take on their camping/hiking, when they won't have access to a kitchen. It is a relatively small kitchen though.
The views from the hostel, at least in summer, are great.
The hostel itself is on top of a hill, so factor that in if you are carrying a lot of luggage on a cycle or are walking.

I was surprised that I had to make the bed. I don’t think I have had to do that at any hostel before. Staff were extremely knowledgeable, kind and helpful, made my trip much better. The schoolkids were really noisy but I guess that’s to be expected.

I was staying in Rumi Hostel as I was traveling Norway from south to north. I can confidently say that this is my favourite hostel. It was an ideal spot to wash ones clothes and take care of oneself after weeks of traveling. It was very clean as well as quiet. Recharging ones batteries went well there. I'd come again if I visit Trondheim

Staff were very helpful when I notified them about my late arrival and check-in, and responded promptly through email. They also made sure I had a towel and some soap waiting on my bed when I asked if there would be any available for use at the hostel.

Hostel with a view
Rumi as the hostel is called nowadays is on a hill top with magnificent view over the Trondheim fjord. Stunning sunset yesterday ar midnight! The staff is very helpfull. I stayed in a room with 4 bunk beds, luckily the lower one that I asked for. Bath and toilet shared with others. Clean and comfortable. The staff mentioned before my arrival that it would be a 25 minutes walk from the station. Upphill. It was steep. The common room wirh fjord view and free tea/coffee is pleasant. Recommended!

So far the nicest hostel i stayed in in Scandinavia. Though that also shows in the price - i would also expect more for ~45€ a night instead of 17€ ;)
But its very nice, very clean, the staff is super friendly and helpful and they have a great and clean community kitchen!
Only thing is, that i feel you have to walk to the city center. Its only about 20 mins but up/down quite a steep hill so thats a bit hard with luggage. Might just be my fault though, the pubkic transport in Trondheim is very confusing to me.

Gode senger og godt renhold
Gode senger.
