This property may be fine in the summer, but in the winter it is simply not fit for purpose, and should never be advertised for holiday lets. We had booked a 'family apartment' advertised as having one double and two single beds. The apartment had just one bedroom, but the kitchen/dining room had a single bed in it, and a sofa. This was not as advertised. Also the apartment had no heating, and was extremely cold during the one night we spent there. The water for my shower was also cold. The shower tray was stained brown. I don't know if this was dirt, or just a deposit from the water, but it was most unattractive. There was no 'airport transfer' service as advertised on the website. Also, it was stated that 'front desk staff will greet guests on arrival'. Despite arriving on time by taxi, the front was closed and nobody appeared. Eventually someone responded when the taxi driver rang the number shown outside the office. In addition to the shortcomings of the apartment, which was the coldest, most sparsely furnished and least comfortable I have ever seen, the village was absolutely dead: no cafes, no restaurants open, and no signs of life at all. These apartments are quite unsuitable out of season, but this was never made clear on the website.

Our stay was pleasant because of the nice patio area. Peaceful and quiet. The kitchen was a bit lacking in supplies - only one pot as an example. No toiletries either. Although we arranged ahead of time for arrival around 9 pm and we’re told there would be someone at the reception area, there was no one and no sign of where to go. A neighbor assisted us by calling the receptionist’s unit. Not good when we were already tired from long, long travel.

Real experience in traditional village house

Simple but good breakfast (enjoied local Cyprus sausages). Good swmming pool for kids. Good wifi connection. Friendly and helpful staff.It is good value for money. Unfortunately the shower hose was leaky and cats noise in the middle of the night interrupted kids' sleep but amazing experience with authentic village house.

Relaxation Heaven

Lovely place to stay, very authentic and peaceful very in touch with old fashioned traditions. Unfortunately only negative was other amenities very limited - one local taverna (not even opened during our visit) local supermarket and garage nearby as well as a McDonalds - not what l desire after a 5hr flight or when l'm on holiday looking to embrace local Greek culture

Authentic and peaceful location

The check in procedure was random at best. This place is within 5 minutes of the motorway but in such a beautiful location it could be on a million miles away. Skarinou is a gorgeous authentic Cypriot village and the complex fits in perfectly. The pool is small and not so well kept and with twenty or so 'houses' you get the feeling of being on top of one another. Having said that I am sure that we will use Skarinou again. It is good value for money.

Schöne, familiäre, traditionelle Unterkunft

Das Hotel besteht aus insgesamt etwa 15 Appartments unterschiedlicher Größe mit Balkonen oder Terrassen, die durch kleine verwinkelte Gassen verbunden sind. Alle Appartments sind in kleinen traditionellen Steinhäusern untergebracht, jedes hat einen separaten Zugang. Daraus ergibt sich eine sehr familiäre Atmosphäre, in der man schnell Kontakte knüpfen, aber sich auch jederzeit zurückziehen kann. Die gesamte Anlage ist sehr gepflegt, die Küche besitzt eine Basis-Ausstattung, die nicht luxuriös aber ausreichend ist - wir haben fast täglich gekocht. Der Pool befindet sich im Zentrum der Anlage, ist sauber und es gibt ausreichend Liegestühle und schattige Plätze. Wir, eine dreiköpfige Familie, haben direkt andere Familien aus unterschiedlichen europäischen Ländern kennengelernt und uns insgesamt sehr wohl gefühlt! Huang, die vietnamesische Verwalterin, hat uns am ersten Tag sehr freundlich in Empfang genommen, hat sich immer um alle Gäste und die Erfüllung aller Wünsche gekümmert und ist die gute Seele des Hotels. Vielen Dank!! Parkplätze sind in unmittelbarer Nähe vorhanden. In der nahegelegenen Taverna waren wir nur am ersten Abend. Für uns war das Hotel die perfekte Mischung aus Ruhe und Entspannung, Spaß und einem Zuhausegefühl. Durch die vielen Kinder war immer etwas los, es war aber nie anstrengend. Wie auf der gesamten Insel gibt es auch in der Anlage viele Katzen, die immer auf einen Leckerbissen hoffen. Wir empfehlen das Hotel ohne Einschränkung.

Das Village liegt in den Hügeln, wunderschöne Aussicht von der Tavernenterrasse. Unterschiedliche Zimmer mit Steinwänden und Strohdecken, mit alten, traditionellen Möbeln, wie früher. Kochnische, eigene kleine Terrasse, Pool, Palmen, Blumen, Katzen. Einfach zum Wohlfühlen ! Nur wenige Kilometer von der Autobahn entfernt, Supermarkt zu Fuß erreichbar.

This is a great place for couples and adults.

A small collection of apartments grouped around an enclosed courtyard. Really nice renovation and in the heart of the village - this is NOT a holiday complex or a fully serviced hotel or B&B but a tastefully restored group of traditional buildings - as in the title ! There is a small restaurant 200M across the road which is modern, friendly and inexpensive serving traditional food. The big tourist centres are all about 40 mins by motorway but there are some small local beaches within 10 minutes drive. There is a large supermarket 10 mins drive away open 7 days a week until 9pm - everything you need is there We had a fantastic 10 days here and enjoyed the peace and tranquillity of this small village and would recommend this to anyone who wants self catering, simple accommodation.

Zypern im Mai

Es war eine wundervolle Urlaubswoche! Das Wetter war fantastisch (schon nahe 30°C)und unser Village Houses mit sündländischem Charme wird liebevoll gepflegt von einer sehr freundlichen jungen Frau mit vietnamesischen Wurzeln. Alles blüht und Poolfreunde finden eine willkommene Erfrischung. Die Zimmer haben Klimaanlage, wir haben diese jedoch nicht gebraucht. Die alten Steinmauern sorgen für angenehmes Raumklima. Der Pool wird täglich gereinigt. Trotz des engen Zusammenlebens mit anderen Urlaubern, hat jede Unterkunft seinen kleinen privaten Teil. Wer Kontakte nicht scheut, findet hier neue Freunde mit denen man in die kleine familiengeführte Taverne eine Querstraße weiter gehen kann. Lecker Essen! Die war eine echte Entdeckung! Ein Supermarkt ist 5 min mit dem Auto erreichbar u. ist täglich geöffnet. Für die Selbstversorgung ist alles vorhanden. Scarinou ist ein idealer Startpunkt in alle Richtungen. Jederzeit wieder!

Perfect closure

It was the last of our few accommodations in Cyprus and I must say it put a perfect closure to our vacation and left us with sweet memory of this beautiful country and people. The good information provided by the house manager Ah Hao and the great hospitality displayed and wonderful local cuisine served by the Tavern owner Andreas has made us feel very much at home. The hotel is conveniently situated near a supermarket and McDonald's at the entrance/exit to A1 highway. The village is quiet and pretty. There is also a Donkey farm which is about 10 min drive away from the hotel. Though I think it was not open to public on that day of our impromptu visit, the farm still gave us a good guided tour introducing the tradition and farming culture of Cypriots. We had a good time learning and being amazed by the various products made of donkey milk. It will help that the lighting in the house to be made brighter.

Perfection

The Traditional house was spotless, cleaned twice a week, and the staff most helpful and kind. Karinou is a delight, and all the local people welcoming. One gave us a bunch of his grapes and brought us eggs. Everyone spoke and we felt at home. 2 excellent restaurants, one 5-star rated. Excellent small shop and supermarket in the village. Where else could you get T-bone steak for £6 per kilo? Yes, £6.

perfectly relaxing!

lovely place - very relaxing, very pretty and lovely staff - very discrete and quiet. The pool was extremely clean and the room was full of character. The accommodation is in a small village and you really need a car to explore but I would thoroughly recommend it - there is also a very nice local taverna which serves good food.
