Welcoming spot for a solo traveller.
Generous room with a direct door onto the courtyard which I liked. Room was clean although the building was showing some signs of age. Staff were very friendly and welcoming and the small menu was all very tasty. Other good pubs in the village for a change of scenery but good beer and camaraderie in the Rose and Crown.

Friendly and typically Kentish
Our hosts were very friendly and the food was excellent. A few little glitches which I am sure they will iron out as they progress. The in room wifi only worked a few hours after they reset it. Then stopped again. The mixer taps on the bath were modern 1/4 turn taps, great until you want to balance the hot and cold for a shower We had to find them to remind over water for the table and to place our order for wine after they brought the wine list. Unexpected as there were only 1 or 2 other tables for dinner. Overall ok, we would certainly consider to stop here again.

Usually if I have a music engagement, the best bet is a chain hotel for value and knowing what you are going to get. The Rose and Crown came up in a search and my wife and we took the chance. I am so glad we did! The village Elham is absolutely beautiful. We had two cavaliers with us who loved that on the pub grounds was a large stretch of grass to walk and the views while doing so are wonderful. The character of the pub and the village is so charming with a convenience store, and two other restaurant pubs that are also dog friendly in walking distance. You can get everything from traditional English dinners to pizza and pasta. The size of our room was double the size of the well known chains of T Lodge and P Inn, and there was a sofa, chairs, nice (and not tacky) paintings on the wall and a nice bath. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and it was a hassle free stay. In the end, when the evening came, we were so comfortable we bought wine and watched a movie. Highly recommend

A lovely old pub with friendly new owners
The new owners had only been there a week and were very welcoming and helpful. They are working very hard to update everything and we wish them every success with the venture.

4/10 Fair

Although two rooms were booked, one couldn’t be found on the system. While waiting for this to be sorted not even a drink was offered. Once checked in to the room it wasn’t made up, messy bed and towels on the floor. Again while waiting for this to be sorted there was no offer of a drink or any kind of compensation for the inconvenience.

Lovely staff, nice room. My only issue was that there was no warning that the restaurant was closed on Sundays.

Well worth a visit
The Rose and Crown is a beautiful building set in a lovely little village. It was an excellent base for exploring. The room was really big and had lots of storage. One slight problem was that there was a leak in a pipe but really it certainly did not detract from the room, the people or the location. I loved it and would go back. Apparently it is going through a refurb

Really good with 3 small comments
Really good with 3 small exceptions. Shower difficult to get correct temperature. Sounds travell into bedroom from upstairs and outside. Only cold breakfast. Other than that very good.
