The food at the buffet was not great. There were some nights, I only ate salad, since I don't eat burgers, hot dogs, fries. Also, I don't want food like that when I'm on vacation in Mexico. The desserts looked nice, but did not taste good, consistently. Also, I could not get a good drink at the bar. I tried many alternatives, but none tasted the way they should. We had one very nice dinner our last night at one of the restaurants. If we had 2-3 meals like this during our stay, it would have felt like it was worth the money.
I booked this vacation on Expedia, but checked the Royal Haciendas own website to see if it was the best deal. They were comparable. We are a family of 4 with two teens. When you indicate the children's ages, there is a drop box to choose the ages, 17 & 14. When we arrived at the resort after traveling all day, they stated that we only paid for one child, one was indicated as 7 years old. Since I checked different websites to compare prices and the child age drop box is on each site, it felt like we were scammed. They charged an additional $610 when we arrived. It wasn't cheap to start with.
The villa itself is beautiful and our beach front room was spacious, clean and had gorgeous views.
