The Captain's House is quietly--but utterly--charming. We stayed in one of the more modest rooms and found it perfectly prepared. Breakfast the next morning was all you could ask for--and more. Most of all, the extensive grounds surrounding the main buildings exude a sense of beauty and tranquility. As you eat your breakfast in this gorgeous setting (windows everywhere, lawn and trees sparkling), you're reluctant to leave, and you feel how good life can be. Lovely place!

Quiet birthday weekend

The inn was cozy and quaint. The staff very friendly and helpful. Loved sitting by the fireplace in our room in comfy chairs and just relaxing. Breakfast was very good and filling. Will be going back.

The breakfast was amazing and the grounds were beautiful. The people working there were so helpful in every way…We really enjoyed the room and the Inn in general. The heated gazebo was an added bonus. All of the team there understands the hospitality industry and cheerfully helped make our first stay phenomenal.

We enjoyed this property because it was more like staying in someone's lovely home. The garden was a great place to relax and our room and the interior was charming. Breakfast was lovely but the service was a bit haphazard. The staff were all friendly and welcoming but they were obviously very overworked and unfortunately was very noticeable.

The inn was very nice, but definitely not Senior friendly. No grab bar for the walk in shower. The four poster bed was very high, hard to get in even with the stool I had to request. The directions for the tv referenced Comcast, but the tv was all LG references with no mention of Comcast. The stairs were very steep and narrow with railings on one side only. The entrance had a very high step. A great place for the more agile crowd.

Quiet and quaint property with kind, friendly, and caring staff and impeccably kept grounds. At the beginning of our stay we were greeted by a friendly staff member who gave us short tour of the main house, and then brought us to our room (Northern Light) and showed us all the amenities. My wife and I were both taken aback by how friendly and inviting the staff member was - she showed us through the kitchen and invited us to come in any time of day to grab something to eat or drink any time we wanted. We enjoyed the beautiful gardens and other landscape features throughout the property. We enjoyed relaxing in the gazebo (with the heat lamp!) and just listening to the din of nature and the surrounding community. We were charmed by the personal attention every staff member showed to us and the other guests. For example, we borrowed two bikes to take a ride to the downtown area and as we were getting things ready, the groundskeeper came over and made sure the equipment was in good working condition before we left. The breakfast each morning was excellent, served in a beautiful enclosed porch with great views of the surrounding gardens. It was a bit cold for us to eat outside in the garden during our stay, but I'm sure that would be a great experience as well. We've never stayed where the staff treated you so kindly - almost as if you were family. Captain's House Inn is definitely on the list of places we intend to return.

Loved the Captain’s House

We had an amazing stay at the Captain’s House Inn. The property is beautiful and well located. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. The staff were so professional and friendly and really were the best part of the Inn. Shoutout to Anoushka, always smiling and making us feel welcome. The only thing that could have improved our stay would have been better sheets ( Egyptian cotton) and the bathroom could use some updating. We hope to return one day.

Rooms are more meant for couples, not sure how kid friednly it is, but great getaway for couples, young and old...Ms. Claude was especially great...Highly recommended...
