First off, this place was recommended by a friend who has been staying FOR YEARS due to its location to his kids' college and for the free parking. Then, immediately after booking, I received an email back in May that as of Jan 1, 2025, the location would be charging $39 PER NIGHT for parking. This made the cost (which had been cheaper) 25 dollars MORE per night than our second choice motel. However, our friends had been talking up Ohio House for over a year, so we decided to eat the loss. However, even though the room was nice enough and the staff were super friendly and helpful, the bed was not comfy enough to allow me to sleep well as we had no control of our thermostat. I was SO HOT (not unusual for me, but my husband, who is never hot, also complained that the heat kept him from sleeping well.) For reference, i sleep with thy thermostat at 78 at home with a ceiling fan, but usually 68 in motel rooms with no ceiling fan. The traffic noise (no mufflers required in Chicago???) Kept me awake the first night. The second night I used a sound maker which helped considerably. The only room was on the 2nd floor, which is fine for us, if a little tricky to climb stairs with rolling suitcases. However the floor was super creaky, and I felt SO BADLY for the people who were surely trying to sleep below us a we are up by 5 to leave for long 14 hour cross country drives. I absolutely could not sleep here again without a fan. FYI: from Phx and we were cold ALL DAY in the city.
