This place is a gem in the center of downtown Manteo. It is close to so many sites including quick access to the beaches on Nags Head. Accommodations were excellent and the staff knowledgeable and friendly.

We loved how close we were to the festival! The Inn was beautiful, clean and cozy! The atmosphere and the staff were 10 out of 10! I would highly recommend this establishment and would come back. It’s right on the water and it was amazing to be so close to the fireworks on July 4th!!!!

Great waterfront stay
Really enjoyed this peaceful place right on the waterfront. Very comfortable bed, spacious room, good breakfast, beautiful property. Staff was very pleasant and easy to work with. Downsides were that there was a little mustiness in the room (it is a waterfront, after all), and the steps down to the parking lot are a little tricky. I tripped a couple times at the bottom where the step meets the parking block. We would definitely come again.

It was quaint and had a great location. Staff was helpful but leaves around 5:30 everyday. The room needed updating: had several areas where it needed to be repainted. Also it was far from full yet we got a room with no view. There was no way to pay more for a view or I would have, and would have been fine if the Inn had been full but we got a middle room with zero view when other better view rooms appeared to be empty.

We had a lovely stay at Tranquill House Inn. Staff was very responsive to requests. The only issues that kept me from giving a five star review was the need for better sheets and pillows. Sheets were very rough and pillows were old and well used. There was also a dehumidifier running in our room that needed to be emptied twice a day and it was very loud. We had to leave it on or our bedding felt damp at night.

I have stayed at the Tranquil House Inn around 5 times now as I enjoy the location and past cleanliness, HOWEVER, It is in dire need of a room cleansing- very poor towels and sheets. No maid service, even for simple things like emptying trash. The humidifier was full on my arrival, so I had to empty...room very damp, hence the mold in the bathroom. For the room rate, it was certainly not in par. Hoping the owners put in the necessary upgrades to keep the Tranquil House going as it could be a gem.

We came in the (very) off-season: right after New Years. Manteo is an incredibly charming town that we have enjoyed many times. This time, we were there Jan 1 -3 and it's prime season is summer, so a lot was shut down. We didn't care. Tranquil House Inn is in the very heart of Manteo, and we were looking for a quiet post-holiday decompression. It was wonderful for that. The people were great. It was a great get-away.

When we checked in there was a dehumidifier set up in the room. It was already full with red light on. It was muggy in the room and I am not sure when it was last emptied. They do not have daily housekeeping. No pool. No bikes. You can walk to shops and local restaurants. Free parking is nice. The room needed some updating. The happy hour wine/cheese was sweet wine and cube cheese like you buy kraft in grocery store lunch meet aisle and is on table in lobby. The wine is not in its bottle so I am guessing maybe box wine put in decanter? The have a lovely upstair deck outside. The really should set up happy hour there and have nicer wine/cheese. I would not stay here again.
