Ambria checked us in and was very kind and helpful. The entire facility was extremely clean and smelled amazing! The normal breakfast foods, snacks and fruits were available. Rested very comfortably and in the morning a gentleman named John provided us with a fresh cup of fruit while he cooked fresh eggs, ham and toast at no additional charge! What a bonus! Looking forward to returning someday...

Iowa House is my preferred place to stay when visiting Ames. Location is very convenient to campus, rooms are beautiful, it is quiet and comfy.

Check in ruined it for me!!
The hotel itself was great, slightly rustic and more home like. There was a hot breakfast that was also really nice. Our experience with the staff checking in was not so great. There were multiple phone calls about payment and it was super frustration as we paid about a month earlier at the time of booking. I ended up sending the manager screenshots of our bank account showing the payment. There was no one there when we checked in or when we checked out. After we were home the manager called about a cot we used. I assumed that was comped since I hadn't heard anything about it during our stay. What a stressful mess! This would be the reason we wouldn't go back... Too bad they didn't try to rectify the situation, it was a fun atmosphere close to the university.

Great place to stay on ISU campus
What a great place to stay. First, the location cannot be beat near the campus. Secondly, it felt like home away from home. The rooms are unique and roomy for what we needed. It was hot, so the sleep was a little restless. We were on an upper floor and the window unit struggled to cool the room down. We left windows open.
