Stonewall Resort not what it once was
We’ve stayed at the resort a few times and usually we’ve been pleased. However, this time our stay wasn’t so positive. Our room needed some dusting, We discovered a clump of black hair was sitting on the end table, a pistachio shell from a prior guest was quite obviously sitting on the floor, but most of all, the room is due for refreshing. The only option for breakfast was a buffet, no sit down menu. Due to the dinner menu being quite expensive, four of us chose burgers, fries or a salad. Our guest’s burger was so raw she couldn’t eat it and decided not to send it back. The other guest of ours French fries came out on the dish some in a large clump. My wife asked to substitute sweet potato fries instead but still received regular fries however was promised by the waitress that she’d deliver those sweet potato fries but those never arrived. Overall, this may seem minor to some, but we expected better. Not sure we will return.

Not worth it
This place doesn't live up to its rating. It's supposed to be a 4 star hotel, but the amenities aren't on par with that rating. Need hot water? Have fun walking a mug of water all the way back to check in every time to use their single microwave. They also lock the room with the microwave at night, and they accidentally locked us in. Need an Advil? They have it for sale and it's way overpriced. The worst part was the hotel restaurant, Stillwater. We got two meals. The pork chop I got was super tough, and the carrots it came with were raw. The waitress was kind enough to replace it for us, but then my partner actually got sick from his burger and had to leave the table earlier. The place is also really, really loud. We were practically yelling in order to be able to hear each other. Zero sound design to keep the noise from building as the restaurant fills up. There is a pool, but you might be out of luck if you forget your bathing suit. They were out of swim trunks, so we just gave up. The tub in our room was also too tiny to bathe in. Over all, it just isn't worth it unless you really, really love golf.

We really enjoyed our stay! Staff members were very friendly. The patio area with multiple seating areas and a fire pit was delightful and allowed us flexibility to mingle a bit with guests while traveling with our dog. Dining options were variable but convenient. We took advantage of the hiking trails, with several trailheads within walking distance of the lodge. Having access to a charger for our electric vehicle was a bonus. Would love to return for a future visit!

Some staff members were rude, team was understaffed. Buffet dinner was not very hot, meat was dry, and price expensive for offerings. Beautiful property and outdoor pool was still open.

This is a really lovely resort! I was surprised that I order to receive housekeeping, you have to request it by dropping off a slip of paper to the front desk. This was inconvenient. The on site restaurants were fantastic and the little gift shop was full of all sorts of goodies. The trails on the property were amazing and the pool was a perfect place to relax. The area of WV was in an extreme drought when we were there so the lake was very low-- but that didn't stop water activities! How fun!

I wish I could give the staff 10 stars! They were amazing and really made our trip extra special. We were also lucky enough to be there when there was a murder mystery dinner which was great. I was worried about only having their restaurants in the vicinity, but i was pleasantly surprised. All meals were delicious, especially the breakfast buffet. The pool and outdoor amenities made it peacefully and relaxing. We can't wait to go back next year. I highly recommend this property! Just don't forget your wallet. Things can be a bit pricey, but everything is well worth it. You can do as i did and close your eyes, enjoy it all and charge everything to the room and deal with it when you get home relaxed and with all your memories.
