Perfect place in old town.

Such a wonderful surprise to find this gem of a small inn in the center of Sancerre. Tastefully appointed and designed, the house retains all the character and charm of its origins. La Place in Sancerre was wonderful! We went on a family girls’ trip to Sancerre and La Place greatly exceeded our expectations. Ophelie and her husband were lovely hosts, and the property was beautiful. We booked two rooms, both were clean, spacious and had modern bathrooms. The common areas were well appointed, inviting and morning breakfast in the “la cave cellar” was excellent. The property has five guestrooms and is a fully restored home, the prior home to Ophelie’s grandmother. It is in the heart of the downtown Sancerre square. It was easy to walk around the town and the town had spectacular views, restaurants, and shops. We booked on Expedia, and all worked out great. One note, we took the train from Paris to Tracy Sancerre, the ride was just under two hours. The train was easy and very convenient but when you get to Tracy Sancerre, there is nothing: no station, no taxis, no Ubers 😊 and no people. The closest restaurant was over a mile away and we had luggage. A rookie tourist mistake. A special Thank You to Ophelie, I called her to help us with a Taxi and none were available. She sent her husband to pick us up, he arrived with a smile, grabbed our luggage, and loaded them into the van. He drove us to the B&B which was about six miles away and we had a glass of Sancerre in our grasp within 10 minutes of arriving! If we have the fortune to return, we will pre-book a taxi and book at La Place again! Merci Beaucoup Ophelie and La Place!

I’m not a Bed and Breakfast type traveler, I normally prefer big hotels where you know what to expect in terms of comfort and space. But in visiting Sancerre, this is not an option. I found La Place Sancerre online and booked it. I was so happy I did. It is an absolutely darling B&B. The young couple owners inherited the property by a grandparent and then spent the next couple years renovating it to perfection. This is like walking into someone’s modern yet completely charming home. The finishes are beautiful and high quality and the room we had was spacious with a balcony overlooking the town square. We were met by the owners who offered us a complimentary glass of Sancerre (of course) welcome drink. The next morning the owners made a delicious breakfast and even made arrangements for a local wine tour and tasting for us. Although we only stayed one night, I wouldn’t hesitate to go back and tell everyone to visit La Place Sancerre.

Exceptional!
La Place is an immaculately clean B&B that is tastefully decorated. The hosts were very friendly and accommodating from extra pillows to recommendations for dinner and wineries. The breakfast was perfect with an assortment of fresh and delicious items. The location couldn’t be better; right on the Sancerre Square.

Beautiful B&B
We stayed here as a stopover having travelled from Beziers in the south. We were pleasantly met by Ophelie who speaks great English. The house is comfortable and tastefully dressed. Our bedroom was equally smart and we had everything we needed including a good night's rest. Breakfast was plentiful and of good quality too. A big well done and congratulations to Ophelie and her husband for a successful year of running their B&B and bringing about a lovely place for guests to stay in charming Sancerre.
