Subpar Experience
My fiancé and I stayed last week during a trip down to finalize our wedding details. We stayed in hopes of using this as the hotel for our guests for the wedding, which we will be passing on. First the good. The front desk and valet staff were lovely. The pools, though not overly warm, provided towels, sunscreen and chairs with umbrellas and were not horribly crowded. The drinks while expensive did taste good. Now the bad. You are charged a $48 per night resort fee & $23 per day valet fee. Valet is completely unnecessary. They would park our car a whole 50 feet away from the reception area in spots directly in front of our room. Shuttle has to be pre-booked in advance and is not convenient. The rooms are okay but need some major updates and a good clean. The one bed had nasty stains on the side from what was likely someone else's good time. Bathrooms are all banged up along the trim and the door. Room floor left your feet black walking barefoot. Makeup mirror base was heavily rusted. The one LED light fried within 10 mins of turning it on & back porch light was also burned out. Our room was located just outside the gate to the pool and bar/restaurant which was blasting club style music from 8am to 10:30pm. The one bartender was snippy about our using the free drink coupons and gave me an attitude for wanting to swap vodka for rum in one of the $18 drinks as vodka makes me quite sick…so I ordered something else. They are trying to be high end but are not succeeding.

Loved our waterfront room!
We had a great stay at parrot key. We loved the waterfront king bed room we had. We got engaged in the keys on this trip, and Parrot key was an excellent place to stay. My only negative experience was prior to the visit, where we booked directly with them months in advance and got a confirmation email, and had added my credit card info. A month before I emailed them to ask to purchase a room upgrade, and they said my room was cancelled as the payment had not gone through. I've. Worked years in hotels, an must admit this was the most uncomfortable experience I've had, as they never reached out to check in with me, and the cancellation email got straight to spam folder. Hence, my stay got significantly more expensive, and we was considering to find another place. However glad we stayed at parrot key after all, the room was lovely, the pool area was great, good cocktails and the jetski tour at the hotel is a must do! Cute cats and racoons running around too!
