We read the mostly positive reviews prior to booking but were still pleasantly surprised. The only real negatives are that the rooms, although large, are more standard than luxury, so you won't get 5-star furnishings. Also, the resort is very quiet and not conveniently located to a major town, so it has a very laid back, family vibe, which we loved but isn't for everyone. Otherwise, there were so many positives. The beach and surrounding bay is beautiful, the grounds of the resort are pristine, the food was very good, the rooms were large with three separate balcony areas, and it was very easy and convenient to find so many great activities (just go down to the beach and there are several companies selling amazing family tours). I have to say also that the staff was extremely polite and responsive. Like Costa Ricans in general, they made us feel like valued guests and friends. By the last night my kids were asking when we could come back. It truly was an amazing experience.
