We booked and paid for a room almost three months before our stay in the hope of securing a double bed. However, we were given an accessible room with two single beds pushed together (not linked), located next to the lift, which we could hear whenever it was in use. Because it was an accessible room, the bathroom was very large, which reduced the usable space in the room. The main issue, however, was the shower. With only a short curtain, unless we held the shower head with one hand while standing in the corner, water splashed all over the bathroom floor. We asked to change rooms, but none were available, and we had to wait until the next day. The following morning, no one was aware of our request. There was clearly a lack of communication between staff. We had to repeat our concerns and express our disappointment at not receiving a proper double bed despite booking and paying for the room well in advance. We were then told that we would be moved to a room with a king-size bed. However, when we returned to the hotel in the afternoon, we found that the new room again had two single beds simply pushed together, which they apparently considered a king-size bed. On the positive side, the location is excellent, and the hotel is clean. We stayed in a standard room, so I can only comment on that. It was functional, and we did not notice any particular “design” aspects. Perhaps the upgraded rooms have more of a design feel. Overall, disappointed with the level of customer service.
