Not so good. Very worn and not as clean as we would have liked. No trash can in room

Dawson House is an older facility but has some fun, themed rooms. We had the Cowboy Room that had great decor. Also had chairs on the deck outside our room that made for a great place to sit in the evening and talk about the trip's adventures. If you like sleek and modern, this is not the place for you.

It was an okay stay. A little odd due to covid.

I’m not sure what I expected, but when I drove up there was an empty dusty parking lot. The windows were draped on the inside with different old bed sheets so I was a little confuse. The keys were all sprawled out in the front desk counter for the taking. We took our keys and walked halfway up the stairs to find a pitch black room with light switches on the floor behind the refrigerator. The room was gigantic but definitely dated. There are 2 wall AC units that are super loud when on in the summer (ear plugs a must). There is a kitchen available with basic supplies. The full size refrigerator was great for storing our food before our next stop at Crater Lake! Beds were overly soft in my opinion. Plenty of room for a family with kids. Boards games were a nice distraction. Communication via text was helpful. I could definitely see how truck noise from the road can be an issue if the AC isn’t on other times of the year. Food choices are basically Subway across the street at the gas station.

The room was clean but out dated. The historic nature of the building was cool but it could have been more modern.

We stayed here as a one nighter before going to crater lake and this spot was good location for the park. Other than that, I wouldn’t recommend. The area had pretty much no food options, the bed was extremely old and soft (hence uncomfortable), furniture was very old, and the bathroom floor wasn’t well cleaned. Overall, just old and run down but did the job for one night. The owners at the front desk were very nice.

The hotel was a nice find, especially given that the area is somewhat remote as compared to the larger cities in Oregon. I suppose it was bit pricier than the cheap hotels one might find in a more remote area, but worth it. Some negatives: the building is older and the floors creaked a lot whenever anybody anywhere walked around, and the bathtub did not really drain well. The tvs are very small, and there seemed to be a motorcyclists or drag racers who revved engines up and down the thoroughfare during the night. Nonetheless, the hotel was clean, had coffee 24/7, had convenient parking, and a friendly person at the front desk. It was also close to a gas station that had food and a Subway. It was about 22 miles from Crater Lake, and, if not the closest hotel to Crater Lake, it was likely pretty close. It was a great place to stay while visiting the area and more enjoyable than the four star hotel I stayed at in Portland the next night.

Quaint lodge close to crater lake. Friendly staff.

Difficult to judge this property. As the owners will admit it is old, quirky, and has character. The location close to Crater Lake results in higher than expected room rates. I get that. My room's large functioning whirlpool bath was appreciated. Otherwise, a box of kleenex and cups in the room would definitely have made my stay more comfortable. I felt odd asking front desk for more toilet paper and bath soap.
