Great value, great service!
I always stay at this hotel when in New Paltz. It truly lives up to the name "best value." It is no-frills, but super-clean and has everything you may need. The people were extremely helpful and friendly. One evening, I ordered out for food, and it came without utensils. I went to the front desk to see if they had anything, and the person at the desk said she knew that restaurant always forgets utensils, so shed already gotten them out. It was a small thing but that kind of anticipating needs is the essence of good service!

Great Find!
We were happily surprised at how nice this hotel was. The location was also great! It is very clean which to me is the most important thing! Staff was very friendly. They have nice new soap dispensers in bathroom. Everything seems new. We got room service and it came quickly. The bedding was very soft and nice. It was close to town.

Nice place, Tucked-away location
Just what we needed for a quick trip to pick up a boat. Clean, quiet, comfortable. My only issue was the tucked-away location was a bit hard to find on the first pass. Could use more signage coming from town.

Suited our needs
My husband, my son and I stayed here for two nights, while visiting family in the New Paltz area for Thanksgiving. The bathroom was clean and had the amenities we needed. The room smelled a little musty when we first entered, but it seemed to be clean. The bed was okay, and there was a large TV with a screen that swiveled. It was nice to have two desks, a refrigerator with a large enough freezer to refreeze our ice packs for the trip home, and a very large closet. The complimentary breakfast was nothing fancy, but very adequate - and still complimentary - at a time when many hotels are now charging for breakfast. I would stay here again the next time we are in the area.

This was good for the bargain hunter. Beds were stiff and uncomfortable. No Iron/ironing boats in room; needed to be checked out at front desk. Breakfast was very disappointing: bread and pastry, frozen, waffles, cereal. I guess that's a kids dream but decent hotels scramble some eggs and preoare some bacon or sausage? You know, an adult breakfast.

If you try to check in more than 10 minutes early, there's a surcharge. If you want to check out slightly late, there's a surcharge. I stay in much better places in Manhattan, and, if they have a room available, early checkin, late checkout is free. But "America's Best Value Inn" in New Paltz charges $10-30? Pathetic.
