Good value and friendly staff but the bathroom smelt of cigarette smoke and there was a strange smell in the room itself. The hotel is on a lovely estate. Walked into town which took about 30 minutes. The walk is ok once you get across the dual carriageway.

The room was very clean and comfortable, and the restaurant was excellent, with all the food freshly prepared in front of you and extremely friendly staff. Breakfast was a little disappointing and would benefit from starting earlier, but overall it’s a great hotel.

Rummet städades inte under hela vår vistelse (vi var där i en vecka). Endast handdukarna byttes varannan dag, och det skedde på vår begäran. Rummet var fullt av damm och spindelväv, och badrummet var fruktansvärt eftersatt. Utbudet vid frukosten var inte särskilt varierat, och samma saker serverades varje dag. Hotellet låg dock i ett trevligt och lugnt område, även om det krävdes en promenad på 30 minuter eller en taxiresa för att ta sig till närmaste hållplats. Närmaste affärer ligger i Theobalds Grove eller Turkey street.

The rooms were comfortable and the check in at 11pm after our event was quick. The signposting in the driveway was non existent and hard to find in the dark. Staff in the restaurant for breakfast were rude and even though I realised I hadn’t paid for breakfast on my booking, when we arrived at 9.30am her response was ‘you can pay £17 each but breakfast is nearly over’ my children had some scraps of what was left and one wanted weatabix and I was told ‘all the bowls were in the dishwasher’…… so I had so go and hunt one out for myself. Not the most pleasant end to a weekend away but I guess customer service is not as good as it used to be. Shame as the hotel will be beautiful when finished.

As always, the staff are fantastic, the grounds are well kept, the nights are quiet down at the stables and restaurant end (I've only ever stayed that end), and the breakfast are very tasty with a good spread that is frequently replenished with fresh food. The room I had this time around wasn't quite as immaculate as my last stay but it was clean, comfortable and well appointed.

We had a really nice stay here. Obviously, because of the work going on it’s not perfect but we read the reviews and, to be honest, we expected worse than we encountered. The room was good with the biggest bed ever. The work was mainly confined to the reception area. The restaurant and bar area is really nice with alfresco dining. It’s all set in beautiful grounds. We will definitely come back.

We were surprised with how high end this hotel is. Whole hotel is spotless, rooms a nice size, shower fantastic, bed very comfy. We were just above the courtyard where people gathered during the two weddings that were on whilst we stayed, however, this did not disturb us at all. We had breakfast included which was top notch and there were plenty of options. Free parking and free WiFi also a bonus! Only thing that was a negative for us was the heat in the room. It would definitely benefit from having air con, however, this is not the hotels fault and a fan was provided, it just so happened that we stayed in the height of the UK heatwave! We will 100% be returning in the future!

We had assumed that we had booked a nice hotel I guess that it had been once. The room was not dirty as such but it definitely could have done with a deep clean, it could best be described as grubby. The whole place looked run down and in need of refurbishment.
