The Hotel De Cambis is the perfect place to stay in Avignon, and to use it as your base to visit many of the interesting places in Provence (including Nimes, Arles, Orange, Gordes, Aix-en- Provence, Les Baux de Provence, the lavender fields, etc.). The rooms (including the bathrooms) in this hotel are rather large, which are rare in Europe - unless one books deluxe suites. Additionally, the staff of the hotel is excellent - friendly and efficient, always ready to help. Furthermore, this hotel is a short walking distance to the train station, as well as a short walking distance to the main sites of Avignon itself. If you are booking any tours (e.g., Viator, etc.), the Tourist Info office from where the tours depart is diagonally across the street from this hotel. Very convenient! There are many restaurants and bars close to this hotel, as well as a Carrefour supermarket (half a block away), where you can buy your bottled water at a very inexpensive price. One other important point to mention is that the breakfasts offered by this hotel are excellent, and the service staff at the breakfast dining area (as well as at the Reception desk) are competent. The only drawback that I can honestly bring up is that there are no small refrigerators in the rooms. This minor matter can be overlooked given all of the positive things that I have listed above. I will certainly recommend this hotel to any of my family and friends who plan to visit the lovely Provence area of France.
