Great stay, but basic

We've stayed at this hotel for the past few years. This was the first year where the room had no plates, cups, utensils etc. We bought some, so not a big deal, but still should be noted and good to know. Our original room also had no hot water. We let them know, they sent a maintenance man, they checked it, said it was fine, but unfortunately we still had no hot water. They switched our room at this point and we had no issues since then. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. the room is comfortable and on the bigger side which is also nice. Full size fridge is also very helpful. I wish they would update their "gym". its the size of a room, so not very big, very basic machines, no free weights, no space for streching or body weight movements, 2 treadmills, but 1 was broken and the amount of humidity in there felt more like a sauna than a gym. All in all its a good bang for your buck, but i wish they would update things, would make the stay even better

Great value and all around hotel

I was very surprised and impressed at the level of cleanliness and service considering the reasonable price. Very close to the beach and a lot of great amenities in OC. 100% would stay here again.

This place has slipped in the last 5 years

We had no hot water because the hotel's boiler was down for 2 days while we were here. This was during the summer beach season (August). Our room was not clean. Absolutely no room service. I have stayed at Bonita Beach and other Carousel Group hotels at least 10 times in the past. I noticed some things that weren't as good in the post-Covid years, but this was probably our last visit.

DON'T DO IT!! Pay the extra for a nicer stay!

Who knows we're to start. From check in and light to no staff to the rooms being unexplainably dirty and unkept. The pool had sand in it and was dirty over all. Years ago Bonita use to be worth coming to but forget it. Other than the view it sucks. And it just seems like there's no love or care for the place. New investors took over. Look somewhere else and enjoy your stay. The price isn't worth it.

Not good

First day there ac was broken told the front desk maintenance came the same day late at 11:30pm after my husband told them leave it for the morning toilet seat was broken mattress from the sofa bed was disgusting and ripped all up then they switched us to another room the same night mind you they also have molds in the ceiling clean people don’t really clean good cause the balcony had a wet towel feom the previous people and floor was dirty never vacuum the clean girls was either on their phones chatting or they in group chatting pool was small and filthy hot in the hallways people smoking weed threw the hallways and in their rooms that it went to our room. Nice workers in the front desk and one of the maintenance.

Do NOT believe the 8.1 rating

Where do I start? The elevators perpetually smelled like cigarette smoke and constantly made you feel like you were going to get stuck or plummet to death. The shower looked like it was patched and cleaned by chickens. There were odd stains on the comforter. A horrible smell permeated the entire hotel and only got worse when the door to the game room/pool was open. The parking situation was less than desirable. And to top it off, we had to buy bottled water because the tap tasted VERY wrong. The only saving grace was the woman who checked us in, who was very sweet and funny, as well as easy accessibility to the beach.

They had us is the only unit where it was beyond hot, had a portible AC UNIT that leaked everywhere, glass on the balcony prior to us and mind you i had a toddler with me, lock loose, peeling paint, smelled musty, i thought itd be a decent hotel based on the reviews... was not wortth it.

Not Worth It

The staff are fairly nice, but most of the experience was detracted by non-working A/C in the lobby and hallways as well as a leaky shower head. There was a hair or two left on the hair dryer in the bathroom which tells me that there is a lack of attention to detail. The pictures of the hotel were also overly generous, almost misleading due to how small the pool actually was and the disconnect between how good the room looked online compared to what we got. The wallpaper in most of our room and the hallways was also peeling or coming apart. The only redeeming factor was that we got a nicely placed room with a partial view of the beach.

RUN!!!!!

The room was extremely dated, which is okay BUT we liked no less than a hundred ants in or bathroom and kitchen area. The linens probably haven't been updated in years. The pillows were wafer thin. They ran out of towels and washclothes and we ended up using pool towels on our last day because the towels they promised never showed up. Multiple light bulbs were out in the room. Definitely a poor experience in a dirty room with a lack of upgrades. Go somewhere else.

Cheaper price but not worth it

Do not stay in this hotel if you like hot water for your shower or are used to staying in 3-5 star hotels! We made a last minute reservation at the Bonita Beach as the location was decent and the price was good. But cheaper price is definitely what you get! Positives - ample covered parking, room was spacious, full size fridge in room, decent size bathroom with large counter space, and beach (which was very nice) was a very short walk past the end of the parking area. Negatives - 3 times there was no hot water across two days!!, front desk staff were not helpful, no AC in elevators or in the hallways, indoor pool makes everything hot along with the glass rooftop (stupid idea to put that in!), carpet is ripping in hallways, couch and mattresses need to be replaced in hotel room, and we got a ripped towel (time to replace all of them!). This is definitely a 1 star hotel and the company that owns it doesn't care about the upkeep or making improvements because if there are people who get annoyed about their stay and don't return, there are just others who will take their place. Find somewhere else to stay! Spend the extra money to get into a Holiday Inn, Quality Inn or Hilton!
