Good location; helpful staff.
A small room and a smaller still bathroom, the latter lacked any grab bars, making the shower perilous. Accessing shampoo and soap is awkward. On the positive : The hotel staff and particularly the helpful doormen (Romeo, especially) will be remembered...outstanding!

Great family weekend in NYC
My family had a wonderful stay at Fifty Sonesta! Our trip ended up being extended by two additional nights and the hotel was wonderful about allowing us to stay in the same room without any issues. The location is great, room size is big for NYC and very quiet as well. Definitely will rebook for our next trip!

This hotel was in an excellent location. Room was nice, bed comfy, large closet. Romeo was a gem for this hotel! We Bathroom is small, shower was tricky, and toilet clogged twice.

Disappointing
I was honestly disappointed with this hotel. It was extremely run down & didn’t really look like the photos. The staff were rude & not willing to really help too much. There wasn’t many restaurants nearby to choose from for family dining. The bathroom was tiny & shower took forever to heat up & then when it did the water wasn’t very warm. It was loud & just heard sirens all night. Lobby was tiny so constantly congested. Overall disappointing & not worth $550 per night

Won’t return or recommend Sonesta hotels
We stayed in a family room. Right next to the elevators. From check in to sleeping, we were extremely disappointed. Upon check in I waited a bit for someone to come to the front desk. Not a huge deal, but no "thank you for your wait." No smile or welcoming vibe. The only plus was upon getting to our room the pullout couch was made up and ready for sleeping. Which we did really appreciate. The room smelled all night of steak being cooked. We walked in and smelled steak, went to sleep and could smell steak. I love steak, but do not want to smell it for hours on end. Our room was near the elevators. And we could hear the ding of the elevator bells routinely all night. The room windows were also not very sound proof and we could hear outside noises all night - especially sirens. The bathroom was musty and run down. And not particularly clean. And before heading to dinner we asked the bellman if we could please have an umbrella and he just pointed to the desk and said ask them. Perhaps he was upset at us because we did not have cash for a tip earlier and we had every intention of making it right - but for the rest of our stay he was curt. Before check out we brought up all issues with the manager. But because we had pre-paid we were told there was nothing they could do but take off the incidentals and allow each member of our family to select some snacks for the ride home. That’s a kind gesture. However when paying almost $700 for a stinky, not great room, it is inadequate.

Our stay was wonderful, the room was clean and neat, the staff were very friendly and helpful, and the location was fabulous! However the hot water in the shower was only warm....barely warm! Everything else was great!

We had an amazing time with our family. Location was perfect and rooms were good sized for a family of 5. Everyone was very friendly. we do wish they either offered some sort of room service or free breakfast for the price paid for the tooms

Noisy, needs a refresh
Long overdue for a refresh. Windows do not keep out the cold or noise. Great location, but not worth the price. Breakfast was ok (scrambled eggs, fresh fruit, yoghurt, pastries, filter coffee), but there's a restaurant next-door with more options. Will not stay here again.
