We absolutely love the location of this hotel. It is so close to town and the marina, and no beach vendors. The beach is not swimmable. The waves coming in were at least 10 feet tall, very powerful. Not many people hang out on the beach. The pool area is nice and has excellent service, it seems the crowds there were ALOT wilder than before. Girls were flashing everyone and one did the Zena warrior Princess cry every 10 minutes, for 2 days. We were not comfortable at the adult pool, which was a shame, because we were thinking of joining the Royal Elite Club. It seemed like the pool staff excused the behavior because it was a wedding party… they said. The Expedia VIP access gets you ONE thing , access to the small pool by Don Diego’s restaurant. The bartender there is the BEST. VIP does not get you premium alcohol, and the alcohol choices at this property were definitely inferior to other all inclusives. Royal Elite members do get upgraded alcohol. We love the coffee shop on property, and most of the restaurants. The Italian restaurant was the only one where we had poor service and bad food. The breakfast buffet seemed to be very scaled down from past visits, just adequate. The best thing is the people that work there. So friendly and helpful.
The resort did say they are working to change the resort into a child friendly family destination, adding facilities. So, I would check with them before booking if this appeals to you, or not ( another reason we did not join RE)
