Beautiful hotel in an amazing garden, very friendly staff... but unfirtunately no clue how this could get 5*. The rooms, swimming , hall ways are not in the best condintion for quite some time it seems. Matraces not comfortable with visible signs of where previous guest were sleeping/sitting. Bathroom visibly fixing latest damages in very unorofessional way, not really working old shower... very old carpets. But still you can get stunning view from your room for sliglty above 100€ per night price... so you happily stay in the end :)

Historical hotel with lush and wonderful views.
The hotel is beautifully situated in Monte, a village above the Tropical Garden with an extraordinary view over Funchal and the ocean. Very quiet. Great service.
