Much of the city is walkable and the historic attractions are well worth seeing. It is clearly a university city but that gives a vibrancy missing in other cities. Parts of the city are a step back in time and are well worth exploring, day or night.

Lots of history all around as well as new areas. Fairly good for clothes shopping if you like EWM, Next, Monsoon and New Look. Tesco's is the local supermarket for the many students here. Pleasant walk along the river when it's good weather.

Love Durham but not brilliant for wheelchair users as lots of cobbled streets and steps into coffee shops and restaurants.

"Everything about our stay was amazing, our first time in Newcastle and the hotel was great. The staff was all so friendly and helpful with any questions we had, the room was perfect for my wife’s disability needs. Will definitely be back to Newcastle and to this hotel specifically. "
"Grey St Hotel is in a fantastic location for exploring Newcastle. Right in the heart of the action, but still quiet in the room at night. We arrived by train and the station is only a short walk away.
The reception staff were friendly and helpful at all times, as were the housekeeping staff.
Our room was spotlessly clean, had lovely high ceilings and sleek decor.
The hotel was also incredible value. I’d love to go back and try the spa facilities :-)"
"We enjoyed our stay at your hotel a little. lot better than the previous visits as we had no water on the first visit and could not use the water on the second as it was boiling hot to the touch"
"Great time. Enjoyed a meal in the Rib room. Spa facilities were super and definitely great getting us ready for a wedding, also dealing with the consequences from the wedding. "
