I’ve used Expedia for six years, but my stay at Sapphire Beach Club Resort in Saint Maarten was extremely disappointing.
The issues began with a late check-in (4:00 PM). Room 222 had a damp smell and black mold around the bathroom mirror and tiles. I was moved to Room 142, but it was smaller, had more mold, and the same damp smell. The floor supervisor dismissed my concerns. I returned to Room 222, where the receptionist gave me Lysol and suggested I spray the room.
By Day 5, I noticed a lump on my throat, likely due to the room environment. Housekeeping didn’t change the pillowcases for four days until I removed them myself.
Customer service was poor, especially at the poolside bar, where staff prioritized a white couple and ignored me. When I asked for a drink adjustment, the staff member was rude and dismissive.
The only positive aspects were Ms. Marcia at the activity desk and the pool cleaner. However, the mold, poor service, and lack of accountability ruined my vacation. I left feeling disrespected and dealing with health issues, and I would not recommend this resort.
