This was meant to be the highlight of our trip to Italy and France but I'm sad to say it was the worst out of the hotels we stayed in. The hotel may have been good at one point but it is now tired and shabby looking, it fell far below our expectations. For us the pool area was particularly disappointing with poor quality repair and renovation work of the historic pool. The service and staff were good though; such was our disappointment in the hotel that we felt the need to complain to the reception staff and manager, they responded well and did what they could to make the situation better, moving us to a much better room which had been renovated at the beginning of the year...if only all the rooms were of this decorative quality. There was a good choice at breakfast and the waiting staff were very helpful and attentive. We would not return to this hotel.

Tired and hides behind the royal name and star rating. Breakfast and service was good, classic room was expensive for a outdated room but maybe the other rooms are better. Pool opening times are not helpful if you fancy a dip after work or before work.

This is a beautiful hotel with wonderful staff and amenities. The breakfast buffet has a very large variety of food and drinks. It was so relaxing to use the poolside area to read and relax.

Attention to detail shows in every area of the Royal. The housekeeping, restaurant, pool and wellness staff were excellent. Breakfast was amazing! Can't wait to return! I couldn't ssk for a better place to relax and enjoy my vacation.
