This hotel room was a nice set up but the cost of $1403 was not worth it. I would have paid $400 for the room because of the essence festival. I’ve machine outside with bird dropping on the ground. Mosquitoes and nets in the room. I did let the front desk know about the gaps in the door and the insect bad in the room. I have several mosquitoes bites on my body from the stay at the hotel dauphine. I never used the ice for drinking purposes because of the outside location as well as the mold on the machine. The towels I received was not cleaned enough. Several time I inspected them and place the not so clean ones on the floor for house keeping. I have never had such a bad experience with a hotel in my life. This hotel should be shut down for remodeling. Especially for the doors attached to the rooms.

Terrible service and broken door
They gave us a room that had a broken front door. The door would not close. When we reported it, they told us they would have someone go to our room to fix it. 45 minutes later nobody had come by so I went back to the front desk and had to demand that they move us because we couldn’t just leave our stuff in an opened room.

Bed Bugs
Splurged a little and booked a superior carriage house king. Checked in and got my room number (106). No one offered assistance with my bags despite the fact that I was solo and the room was up a narrow and winding set of stairs. Got to room and it looked great initially. Then I noticed a dark spot on the white bedspread that looked like ashes or a dark dusty matter. Closer look- it was crawling with bugs! I immediately grabbed my bags and got out. Desk staff were nonplussed and offered no apology and no service recovery of any kind- not even a drink voucher. I was assigned another room, which was smaller. I barely slept wondering if the new room was infested as well despite searching the best I could. New room was just across from the first room and I never even saw anyone go investigate my report. I emailed J Collection Hotels and they haven’t bothered to answer.

I loked that the property was in a location that made it easy to walk to almost everything we wanted to do. The room was hot and did not cool off. The front desk had us change rooms and that room was the same. We went when it was hot and very humid. We were told that the room temperatures were do to the heat. However, all the places we visited had fine working air condition.

While we knew that this hotel was in a very old the online pictures made it look very charming and it was rated with 4 stars. We had a room with a small balcony, but the doors to the balcony did not close all the way so we had to put a chair up against them to hold them shut. It was very hot and the air conditioning was almost non-existent making it very hard to sleep. We could not get the shower to work either. These rooms are very overpriced. If you are looking to stay somewhere old and outdated this is the place. I would give it 2 stars. The staff on the other hand were extremely nice and helpful - they get 4 stars.
