The hotel hence take advantage of this particular clientele to overcharge for they offer. The Hotel is old, the carpets are old, the AC unit not only old and very noisy but the air sanitation is questionable.
The Amenities are poor, the checking/reception area is uninviting, they have those showcases of the hotel history, who gives a damn about their history, but no comfortable seating, no TVs, no continental breakfast, not even complimentary water or coffee/tea you find usually hotels of comparable stars. Parking is a separate surcharge.

Add to all of that, the hotel, because it is part of the hospitality department of the university, may be benefitting from low or no state/federal taxes, low utilities bill, and low or no cost of the landscaping and beatification environment.
That means taxe payers are subsidizing the hotel indirectly and paying higher prices for their stay than what they would pay at a comparable hotel, and getting shittier accomo
